is a bachelors degree necessary?
Truly it is best to go ahead and get the BSN...I literally just git off the phone with a nurse recruiter who told me for any of their new grad programs I have to have a BSN I was like " Oh ok thanks for letting me know the reason I did not receive a response."

GPA to work
Hello All an update to my journey of finding a position as a new graduate. Today I happened to contact an Atlanta Hospital in HR through email. Basically just stating that I was wanting to get some feedback about my resume. I had applied to so many there. Let me say I am thankful she called me back this will help others before they graduate...... The conversation started by her stating that she had received an email from me and that she was calling with feedback. Her first question was what was my GPA. I responded by stating that my GPA cumulative was 2.95. My program GPA is 3.4. Her response was well I can speak for this Atlanta location that is why we have not called you back cause you do not meet the minimum standard. I really do not understand how to interpret that outside of exactly what she said you don't meet the minimum standard. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks for any feedback and for any still in school take heed to this.........

Feeling frustrated/embarassed...want to quit nursing...
Hmmm...Sounds like you may be on point with why you made the decision. But do not lose hope you are in a field with many options bedside may not be for you. Pray first about it go in with this is a stepping stone attitude start applying for education jobs that takes you away from that bed....You can be a case manager, Educator, etc seems like you need to grasp that masters and go on and start teaching that may be a better option your investment is not lost. You may want to do travel assignments to so that you can have variety...God's Blessings

Certainly this information would have been useful during school. I blame no one but myself for being in this predicament. I have some wonderful suggestions for my RN program though if they should ever ask...lol!!!!

New Grad / Difficult time
I'm definitely starting to consider I have to get some things in order of course... I spoke with my friend I did pre-req's with we got accepted to different nursing programs but finished the same time she was hired @ Piedmont but tells that 1/2 of her graduating class is not working.....I have been browsing on her and have seen some of the same..reviews after graduation. So right now I'm going to continue to hang tuff. The "Hey you shoulda researched this before you started" hmmm really offers no help. But I'm thankful for eveyone that has a possible solution to the problem....

New Grad / Difficult time
Yes I did research all the way down to the cost to hire me in comparison to an experienced RN. But I still could not foresee this challenge. The 3 hours- issue I failed to discuss my need to be within 30-45.min as I have exhausted the majority of babysitting favors during school. Networking I am doing now actively..The next job fair at Piedmont says that you have to have experience...Should I still go? Thanks for the reply though any advice is much appreciated!!!

New Grad / Difficult time
I graduated May 2013 and received my license July 2013 it is not the end of August and I still have NO job yet? I already hold a Business Admin Degree and previously found accounting job with no problem. I live in Atlanta but went to school in Alabama so I did receive offers from the Alabama hospitals but the 3 hour a day drive would be a bit much. I had the perception that with this targeted degree there should be no problem....I was wrong. I have people to call me back but when we discuss about no previous experience (it reflects this on my resume as well) , I hear well maybe you can go and take some classes and get certified while I am willing to go to classes this cost money....I'm not clear on this challenge to obtain employment. My classmates mostly already LPN or CNA have obtained positions. One of them with no previous experience transferred her license to Alabama for the job and at the end of the day they said they were going to go with someone else...So I dont understand. Also my degree is ADN does that matter???? I am frustrated definitely praying about it. My professional demeanor is exact so Im lost...I can pay my dues of given the chance
