UCSD 2014 Summer New Grad Applicants
Hi All, I interviewed for the Perinatal FMCC/NICU new grad cohort on Monday. My interview was for the NICU loop of the program. Just wondering if anyone else who interviewed had been offered a position or received a rejection? I understand they conducted interviews on June 2nd, June 9th, and few sprinkled throughout the week of the 9th as well. The wait is soooo difficult!!

Rady Children's Hospital 2014 RN New Grad
I applied for NICU as well and have yet to hear anything. I called the nurse recruiter this afternoon and the automated answering machine states they are still considering applicants, but does not state for which departments. If anyone gets a call from NICU, I'd love to know! Thanks all and good luck :)

SHARP Winter 2013/2014 New Nurse Residency
Well, I received a call from the Grossmont NICU this morning, "Thank you for your time, but we went with other applicants." I can't express how disappointing this news is. I'm trying to put it behind me and focus on other things, but honestly its difficult. I'm pulling for you tomorrow Linds_12!! I emailed the manager on the panel and politely asked her to provide some insight and/or feedback into what influenced the hiring decisions and any advice she may have for me regarding my future interview opportunities. I'll keep you posted if she responds with any enlightening information. To anyone on this board who did accept one of the positions at the Grossmont NICU today - a heartfelt congratulations from me :) It seems like an amazing opportunity and I wish you the best! All the rest of us, let's keep truckin' and encouraging one another.

SHARP Winter 2013/2014 New Nurse Residency
I interviewed at Grossmonts NICU this morning. The staff was pleasant but, I concur, the interview was fairly intense - panel of 7 and they all asked me about 2 questions each. They stated they were interviewing 6 and hiring 4. They really attempted to reduce the number of panel interviews by carefully screening apps and then conducting phone interviews. The unit manager let me know they will be finishing interviews tomorrow morning, deliberating tomorrow afternoon, and contacting all applicants (hired or passed over) by tomorrow evening. At least I won't have to wait and wonder for weeks :) I wasn't unaware of the first vs second choice issue, or the starting salary..... so thank you ALIinSD for that information. I'm super hopeful that I'll receive an offer! NICU nursing is truly where my heart lies. I precepted at a level III NICU (out of state) and loved every moment of it. Best of luck ALIinSD with regards to the SMB L&D new grad position. Keep us posted! For all of those that are frustrated submitting applications with few or no responses (cue crickets chirping), hang in there! I haven't been offered a position, but I am thrilled to FINALLY be receiving some employer interest. I have been stocking hospital websites daily and I've submitted dozens of apps online with 0 responses, for a little over 6 months now. Between reworking my resumes, writing cover letters, volunteering, networking, submitting applicaitons, and interviewing - the process has just about turned into its own full time job (without the handy-dandy paycheck). In a weird twist of fate, I checked my email before leaving Grossmont this morning (in the parking garage - not ANYWHERE near the interview) and UCSD contacted me with a supplemental form to complete and email back for a New Grad Perinatal NICU/FMCC position that I applied for there. Not sure anything will come of it. I've applied for this position in the past and heard nothing. However, it is reassuring to hear that our applications are occasionally read by someone, sometime after being sent into cyberspace. We all have to remain determined, stay positive, and keep applying!!!

SHARP Winter 2013/2014 New Nurse Residency
I had a phone interview with the Grossmont NICU last week and now I have a panel interview on Monday. I'm nervous, but SUPER excited!! The panel interview will be an hour, with 6 interviewers. Best of luck to all of you receiving responses from Mary Birch. I know an RN who works there and loves it :) BTW, I'm a BSN (graduated in May) with NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E.

Scripps New Grad Program
Finished my interview this morning. I agree, all of the managers were kind and encouraging. I asked on the way out and the HR person said they would be contacting each applicant in the next two weeks (I would imagine it will be near the end of this window). Scripps will be calling to offer positions and emailing if a rejection is in order. Man your phones all! I'm sure we'll all be offered positions :)

SHARP Winter 2013/2014 New Nurse Residency
Thank you for the clarity. Unfortunately, I missed the recent Sharp MB NICU posting....so frustrating. Bright side is lesson learned: continue to check web sites daily - even while new grad positions are processing.

SHARP Winter 2013/2014 New Nurse Residency
Congrats Culli005! I too am focused on NICU, however I didn't apply to Sharp Mary Birch because they didn't have NICU specific positions open this go around. Here are the new grad positions SMB had listed: Labor & Delivery (January 2014) Full-time, 12-hour night shift Current NRP certification by application date required Completion or currently enrolled in the August-October 2013 Maternal Newborn Nursing Course through the Regional Perinatal System required Labor & Delivery preceptorship or externship experience preferred [*]Perinatal Special Care Unit (November/December 2013) Full-time, 12-hour nights Current NRP certification by application date required Completion or currently enrolled in the August-October 2013 Maternal Newborn Nursing Course through the Regional Perinatal System required Current ACLS certification preferred Is the NICU part of the perinatal special care unit? Also, have you completed the maternal newborn nursing course through the regional perinatal system that was listed under requirements? Sorry for all the questions....just trying to figure out what SMB is looking for in their new grad NICU candidates. I applied for the Sharp Grossmont NICU new grad position and am hoping to be invited this week for a panel interview (fingers crossed). Best of luck to you!!

Scripps New Grad Program
My new grad status still boasts "submission recieved" too. For the poster who was concerned about calling HR, I had to call after submitting my app and I just called the main Scripps number and the operator connected me to the hiring dept. After frantically finishing my novel of an application around 9:30am, I victoriously pressed submit, and then checked my email for the automatically generated "thanks for applying response". The new email in my inbox thanked me for applying to a patient services rep position I submitted an app for a few weeks earlier (even though I was applying in the new grad position). I called and HR (understandably not entirely chipper to chat with me due to influx of new grad calls) looked they up my app on-line and assured me the submission was recieved/complete. I'm appreciative the HR employee checked for me, but I'm still apprehensive that I didn't get a confirmation email, for the correct position at least. The Scripps computer application system seems questionable.
