I have worked at an office before, with similar circumstances, what I did is as much as I could without giving myself too much. Are there other people you could use as references besides the new manager? I would look for other ones just in case she isn't willing to be used as a reference. Gather those references, study for the NCLEX, and look for something better. Good luck on the NCLEX.

Thank you to everyone who responded, I ended up sending my resume to several job posts, and got a call back on two, went on an interview for a surgery center, and got the job!!! Woohoo!! More experience to get. So did end up putting my two weeks notice in, and once again they counter offered with keeping me PRN, and I declined. Next week would have been my last week at this job, but like the last time, they took me off the schedule, this time I'm not going to call and ask what happened...today at work, I had called and texted the DON for a question and he never responded...really?! OH well onto the next chapter in my career.

Yes I am not sure if he really is or isn't seeing the patients, I have heard from some patients that i am the first person who sees them..so that is what really scares me. Thank you for the information, I knew there were rules, but wasn't clear on them. I've heard that the MD that most of these patients have refer them to the agency..so I'm not sure if there is a connection between the two, either way, the DON should be seeing these patients. There have also been times when a patient has been aggressive towards the two nurses before me, and I see they still schedule me to see that patient!!!! . THere are just way too many things going wrong here, that even as a new nurse, I know are wrong. I'm outta this place quick! Tomorrow I finally turn in my two week notice...now to prepare for the awkwardness :/

That is so true! I seriously thought I was being a bit dramatic, but as I talk to more people, they say the same thing, that this place is not a great place to work, and sadly their employees or patients are not their top priorities. I know that in all workplaces there will be issues, but I know I can find something better, and where I feel safe and content where I work. Thanks again!!

@ roser13 I never really thought about it like that....thank you! I just feel bad because they worked with my schedule, but now I'm seeing that I really wished I would of just left. You said that your husband stated he said to never take a counter offer in a job...is that for the reasons you stated..or was there something else? Just curious. Again thank you for your response, it really did help. Thank you everyone else for the posts!! These posts are giving me the push I needed. Greatly appreciated.

Okay so a little update from my previous threads, as I thought I was taken off the schedule due to me giving my two week notice, I went to talk to my boss. She and I sat down and talked for a while, and it turns out they wanted me to stay. So they offered me a great schedule, and we also had a meeting about how things were going to change around the agency (all positive ones). So I stayed, and did not proceed with getting the other job. Now it's June, and let me just say, "WHAT DID I DO?". I really thought this agency was going to change, but it has just gotten worse. I don't know the "rules" as far as it goes for recerts and all, but our DON handles the recerts, well some of them. I have been seeing patients who are not recertified, and I was just wondering about that. I guess I don't want to question my boss, but I know that is something I am going to have to get over..as this is my license I am protecting. Another thing, I am being given patients the last day of the week, and there is no way I can go see them, so I call the scheduler and she states it was a mistake on her part, but if I can go see them anyways:banghead:. She made the comment to me that if I don't she will get into trouble???? So she is basically leaving it up to me to get into trouble or not because my boss will see that I did not see the patient..I hope this all makes sense. Some patients have not had their medications refilled because the DON had to get their discharge papers to reorder them, and he has not done that either..I have already told him three times and nothing....I am so confused fellow nurses. Please help! What should I do? P.S. We have an inservice on Monday...should I mention all of this to my boss, or is it better to just move on? I have already thought about quitting, have not found a job yet, but I feel bad because they really wanted me to stay and worked with my schedule...WHAT SHOULD I DO????

yes you're right!! I just wish she would of told me, instead of me finding out like this I guess....but oh well...on to the next...can't wait to start on this next job! But like others who have commented I need to make sure nothing negative comes out of this. I guess if they don't require me to finish my shifts, I don't want this job to turn around and say they fired me....

That is just so immature, and you're right very nasty trick. So I guess I will give it until tomorrow, and if I still do not see any schedule, then I will call her...smh....and here I was breaking my head on whether to give a week or two notice or not....smh

Thanks for the advice everyone! And yes unfortunately I have realized that a lot of healthcare is about business, but there are certain things I really don't want to jeopardize my license for, that I worked so hard for as well. I don't want to get into detail, but there are things that are handled not so appropriately. Anyways, as I gave my two week notice yesterday, I went to log in to my paperwork account to finish up on some, I noticed they took me off the schedule for next week!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! So should I even show up to work then? Why did I know this was going to happen? SMH....

You are all right! I am going to talk to them Monday and let them know and give my two week notice. I hate doing things like this, I just hope I don't get treated any different, Ive had that happen before. And although to some just saying I'm not happy with this job is not a good enough excuse, but there are other things in play that I don't feel like signing my name to with my license, and I don't feel like anyone should wake up and dread going to work either.

Hello all! I just recently started this job in December, and at first I did like this job, but as weeks went on I noticed there were a lot of things that weren't right, I saw it being more about money that then actual patient health, anyways, I was wanting to quit and have a friend who can get me in with her pretty quickly, so I was not wanting to give the standard 2 weeks notice, I wanted to call today and give a week notice...would that be too short? I work for home health so I never see my bosses unless I need to get supplies from the office, which is like maybe once a week at the most. So we do use our phones to communicate, calls and text. So I am going to need to call her to give my notice, would that be unprofessional of me? HELP! I really want start this other job ASAP! PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you so much for replying! So far I have a B in Anatomy which I hope I keep or make into an A :). I did talk to the advisor, and she noted that I will turn in my final transcript, but the good thing is that it is still before the cut off date to turn in Nursing applications.
