  2. hello everyone! I got accepted at apu's psych np program for spring2015. anyone here on the same boat? would love to hear from you guys!
  3. i dont have the schedule yet. all i know is they have evening classes. as much as i would like to work 12hrs i couldnt. i'm a nursing mom and 12 hrs shift is such a long stretch for me. its kinda hard ti weigh out what would work best. thanks for your reply though
  4. Hi everyone i need some advice here. Im currently working 7-330 pm (8hr shift) in a psych hospital's outpatient program, very flexible managers and no stress at all. i have two little ones,a 2 yr old and a 3month old. Im really confused whether i should go for 12s shift or stay 8s. I got accepted at a university for my msn-psych np next spring 2015 and they require on campus attendance. i really dont know which schedule would work best for myself, my family, and school. help me out!
  5. where is this facility at? I've been a psych nurse for more tha m 3 yrs now and i loved it. it's good to have psych experience as a new grad but you really have to think about it because not everyone is cut out for mental health nursing. goodluck!
  6. i know this is an old thread but i have an upcoming written exam.. any advice? do they allow calculators for the drug calculations test?
  7. hey, mine is scheduled on july 11 too. what time is your exam?
  8. hi! i have a written exam for the RN 1 position at LA county sheriff dept. next week. can anybody give me tips/advice on what the test is all about. any input will be appreciated. Thanks! have a good day ya'll!
  9. for how long did you do med surg?
  10. thank you for your advice. since I was in nursing school i've always been interested in psych. it's just really hard for me right now because of my 7 month old. i need to save money but at the same time i have to take care of my health too. (i've been having back problems for a year now and my doc advised me not to do so much lifting, which is a req't in med-surg.) i don't know if i'd be marketable in the future if i only have background in psych. im young and honestly i dot know what i want yet, im really stressed out and pressured right now.

im in the same boat as you. currently working in med surg, pay is really good but im so stressed out and its affecting my health already. i got an offer from my previous employer, its a psych outpatient partial program but the cut in pay will be like 10 bucks. which psych facility did u get in to? if u dont mind! goodluck!
  12. hi, i'm currently on a big dilemma right now. I'm working on a very busy and highly stressful med-surg floor at a well known hospital in LA. Every time I go to work, I drag my feet and honestly, I'm not happy there anymore. Yesterday, my previous employer (which is another hospital but not that well-known and highly rated) called me and asked me if i want a position, psychiatric outpatient nurse, hours are awesome 8-430, no weekends, no holidays but ofcourse the pay will be like 8-10 bucks less as a bedside nurse. I'm only 25 and I really dont know which specialty in nursing I'd like to pursue at this time. Im planning to go back to school for NP and advance my degree but im wondering how i would do it if i'd be working 5 days a week (and not to mention i have a 7 month old). i really need an advice from nurses who has been on the same situation. right now all i know is im not cut out for bedside nursing. im too stressed and im hurting my back. any suggestion will be appreciated thanks!
  13. thanks for the advice. im just really tired of med surg. what specialty are u in? any suggestions?
  14. im a little confused about it too. anyways i really dont know which one to choose. im really tired of med surg but at the same time i dont know anything about hospice too.
  15. hi, im currently in a big dilemma between doing med surg and hospice. i was offered a job at this well-known hospital in LA. good pay, great benefits but hell it's med surg all over again. ive been an RN for 3yrs now, doing mostly medsurg/tele/psych and i wanted a non bedside job.. the hospice job offered to me was like a director so basically its an office job, 9-5pm mon-fri. no weekends no holidays. pretty cool. but at the same time i dont want to miss the opportunity working for such a well known hospital. any advice please! thanks! btw, i dont have any background in hospice nursing so i really dont know if there's like a career growth if i decided to take that job.
