I wouldn't send it. If you are truly ready to quit, take the higher road and try not to burn any bridges...I would continue working and take "fake breaks" while also trying to find a new position. I would than just put in a generic 2 week notice and that be the end of it.

....gonna add one more thing. You should also try to shadow a CRNA for a day to see if its really for you.

My husband is a CRNA. You can definitely not work while doing the program. Even with me working as an ER nurse at the time, we had to take out loans, though not as much as some of his classmates had to do. You will be making a lot when graduating so paying them back shouldn't be a problem if you are smart with money. Try to get experience on a cardio thoracic ICU floor. It seemed like most of his class spent a few years there prior to applying. Good luck!

So was that 4hrs a week enough to keep you current without having to take a refresher course? And was that in the acute care setting?

My husband and I are planning to have another kiddo in the near future and have me stay at home. I am thrilled to have this opportunity, but am nervous about not working anymore. I've been an RN since 2001 and have had a fulfilling career thus far. Has anyone ever come back successfully after taking a long break?

Let me tell ya, inpatient acute care is highly over rated. I paid my dues in the beginning working L&D and ER cause I needed to hone my skills, but as soon as I could, I jumped to normal office hours cause it meant more time with family and friends....I do Infusion therapy so I still use my skills, but I also enjoy having the time to get to know my patients and educate them....most of all, I like dealing with the "walkie-talkie" population. I love what I do, and I chuckle cause I make more doing what I do now than I ever did busting my butt in the ER.

You should be getting compensated! I'm salaried but I get paid $22 a night to be on call. Holiday call pay is $42. I'm always on call unless I'm out of town or on vacation....it's a nice little addition to my salary.
