I am in the Midwifery Program

I graduated a year and a half ago. Most of my classmates found jobs before graduation. I had 2 job offers and am still with my job. In addition, I loved it so much that I am in grad school there now. Great program and it definitely prepares you for NCLEX and practicing as an RN. Congrats!

I am confused as to why people say that it is scored after the first 24 hours a 2nd time when there are many states that will post a license number the next day. For instance, I took the NCLEX yesterday morning and finished around 9am....I was listed on my BON at 8am this morning. That's less than 24 hours after I tested and I'm sure that my BON wouldn't do that without accurate result. In fact in my state (VA) when you pass you are able to check the next business day. With that thought in mind, telling someone you have to wait 24 hours just doesn't seem accurate to me in all cases. Btw, I did the PVT 4 times yesterday 20 minutes after testing, 2 hours later, 8 hours later, and again at midnight. The last two times I purposely put in the wrong security code for my card and despite that each time I got the same "passing" response.

Yes, I still have to pass boards. I am very happy that I got hired before graduating. Many of my classmates were lucky to get job offers before graduating.

So, I just graduated on Friday, but I went to their hiring event on Dec 1st. I would highly suggest going.

If I get in I'm definitely going. I know they help with clinical placement which is what I am really looking for.

I am waiting on my last recommendation to come through but I applied for January. How long did it take for you to hear back once you submitted everything?

I applied to Washington Hospital Center a while ago since it was up for Feb 2015 already but have yet to hear anything back. I will probably give them a call this week. I spoke with Sibley and they said to look out for RN I positions and the nurse recruiter told me to email her after I apply. INOVA says to apply to graduate programs preferably after you have a license and VHC wants you to apply only after you are licensed as well. I am trying to get in contact with Holy Cross to see what they want you to do. Also, my classmate called GW who said that the positions will go up next month some time.

I applied! I am still waiting though. Hopefully they will start reaching out soon??? Has anyone else heard back already? None of my classmates have yet.

I go to the Leesburg campus and commute daily from Arlington. And, I have heard the same, though, the NP program is at the Winchester campus and there are classes there 2x/week I believe. As far as clinicals, I feel like I get a lot of experience and have been able to do a lot. So far I have been at Inova Loudoun, Fauquier Hospital, Sentara Potomac, and Reston Hospital. Others of my classmates have also been at Inova Fairfax, Inova Fair Oaks and Inova Mt. Vernon. Clinicals is really what you make of it. You do have to seek out opportunities while you are in the hospitals, which means that if you are not assigned a patient but you see they are doing something that you haven't been able to yet do, then you need to take the initiative to get the experience. I have really liked that and I also feel like I have had fabulous instructors that have taught me a lot. It's been an awesome experience and I haven't yet had one clinical that I have not felt like I have gotten great experience in. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I am currently in my 3rd semester at Shenandoah (graduate in December) and I really like the program. Everything has been pretty organized to me and I'm pretty sure that all of the last Dec graduates got jobs after graduation.....the May graduates are just now taking NCLEX so I'm not sure about that. I really like all of the relationships that I have built and find my professors all extremely knowledgeable and helpful. And yes, they offer 50% off for grad school which is one of the reason I chose the school!!! Good luck and let m know if you have any more questions!

Also, I don't think you will really have a problem getting into Marymount. Just continue doing good and you should be fine.

Shenandoah University and also a great option! 15 month program. I'm currently in their 2nd degree accelerated program and really like it. Also, I live in Arlington and commute....it only takes 30 minutes. The program is in Ashburn.

I'm about to finish up my first semester and I study about 2-3 hours a day during the week, on the weekends I really spend most of the day studying. I do have a family and work part-time though. Finding a balance can be difficult but I still make it a priority to try to do something each week with my family. Also, I would suggest calling the front desk of the Leesburg campus and see if they know of any other students that are looking for a roommate....they tend to know. Good luck and congrats y'all!
