  1. That is horrible. The experience for me was a bit different. I have my EMT license, my phlebotomy license, and my CNA license and I will tell you the CNA license is the only one that has paid for itself and beyond. I got a job within a few weeks of finishing. The money is mostly crap, I took a large pay cut but I knew that I would initially. But the CNA was only a stepping stool for me, I would agree with you that this is not a strong career choice if you want to make a lot of money. I would think you would be better off getting an MA license for the long term.
  2. Hi, I'm currently waiting to hear back from the nursing program I applied to so I may be jumping ahead a little bit but I want to know going in. I currently work in a hospital and lately I have been speaking to RNs who have graduated in the last few years. People are telling me that it took them anywhere from 8 months to a year to find a job here in Utah. Does that sound accurate? Any experience or knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated. :) Oh and I would be graduating with my BS in nursing. I've been told this can make a difference when applying for jobs?
  3. Just a note the reason they are all doctoral programs at the U is because from now on to be a Nurse Practitioner you must have a doctorate. Anyone finishing their masters now will be grandfathered in but anyone applying for graduate school now will not be. I am interested in getting my N.P. so I've done some research on it. The U offers a number of quality programs, I prefer them personally but I know some nurses have done it online and just flown in for the clinical a in other states so for a working nurse this my be best. The U doesn't seem to let you do a doctorate part time. They are kind of all or nothing that way. Good luck whichever program you decide on!
  4. Hi there. I also applied this January to the U's accelerated program and am anxiously awaiting their response. I'm glad that someone who has gotten in posted about when they send the notification. They told me at the very latest by the end of March. I'm hopeful that this means sooner rather than later in the month. But I'm preparing myself to be patient until the end of March. I am quite anxious about the program and I was wondering if anyone has thoughts about working while doing the accelerated program? I know they suggest not to but I was wondering if there were people who have done it and how difficult that was for them? Any response would be helpful, thanks.
