  1. Dmcvicurn503- was the 3.8 GPA your ASN and BSN combined or just your BSN? Thank you for all the info!
  2. Hello, I know this thread was started a little while ago, but would anyone be willing to share their Stat's they had in order to apply to this program? I am very interested in applying for Spring of 2020 and want to start getting everything in order now. I am currently working in the NICU, over 1.5 years now. I am planning to become CCRN this fall/spring, along with taking PALS and ACLS, and my GRE's. Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated as well. Thank you!

Hello, i am a newer NICU nurse and was wondering if anyone has any good references for respiratory material on things like the jet/ ossilator and how to understand the settings on them such as amp, hrtz, map, IT, and good info on blood gases. Anything to understand any and all respiratory information would be greatly apprecriated. Thank you!
  4. Thank you so much for the advice!! I will study up on the things you mentioned!!
  5. Hey Everyone, Since nursing school, I have worked in a long term care facility for 4 years. I am about to change my position and work in a hospital on a medical surgical floor. I am nervous about this because I did such basic nursing in long term care. I was wondering if anyone could tell me things I should brush up... labs, medications, procedures, common diagnosis's/treatments/nursing implementations ... anything that I can study that will help me during this transition would be SO appreciated! Thank you!! Dee
  6. You think? so now i have more to be nervous about, haha. There are SO many hospitals and health care facilities around this area though. I have a hospital 5 minutes away from me. Ekkks, i hope that wouldnt be the reason they don't accept me.
  7. Hey Tasha! I did email him this morning and it wasn't very helpful. I said: Checking in, again. It's been a very long 12-ish weeks. I'm just wondering.. Is someone on vacation or did some of my credits needs further verification from previous schools? I'm just wondering what could potentially be taking so much longer than others I know who have stated they applied (at a later date than me for March cohort) and have already heard back. Any feedback or explanation would really be appreciated. replied this AM and said: We have actually have had a lot of closings due to snow and other weather related issues here at Simmons, the holidays also didn't help with decision turnaround time. Local applicants are viewed separately from other students due to a limited number of preceptors in the local area. I will reach out to faculty to get an update for you. so it doesn't really explain it. Most of you applied same time I did and are from out of state.. I am 45 minutes from Boston. So I am hoping he does ask the faculty and get back to me. But I wit hold my breath..
  8. Congrats! Did you just find out this AM? When did you apply? I did back in November for Natch and still waiting to hear.
  9. I have an email ready to go.. but I am afraid to email today because I know campus is closed til 4pm so I probably wont hear back. So ill email DH tomorrow and hope he responds back with some sort of answer as to why I am still waiting...
  10. Maybe I should call and check on things on Monday? Probably too late to donor now.
  11. Oh I got the financial aid webinar invites directly from Simmons and already attended that. I just happened to receive an email from FASFA yesterday as well.
  12. Something has to be holding them up.. I just figured out of the million times I ask that I might receive an answer as to what it is! Oh well!!
  13. Yup, I have. Never a really good answer, haha. They stated Holidays and snow days" but why have others been reviewed and accepted? This wait is SO Hard. I had maybe a 3.1 in my Associates RN. (Dont know exact GPA because that includes classes I took at the school that had nothing to do with my nursing degree as well). I had a 3.9 for my BSN. I am pretty sure at least a b/b+ average in all my sciences that are fairly up to date. I had either a c+ or b- in statistics. I have been an RN for 2.5 years, and only have experience in long term care and drug and alcohol detox, but Simmons says experience really isn't a factor.
  14. i applied November 4th and received an email on November 8th that my app was complete. I applied for the march cohert. I'm going on to week 11 now and still have not heard. People above heard a lot sooner then I have and applied much later than I did.
  15. Ohhh okay, good to know. I received another email from fasfa to file my loan for the 2014-2015 season. Hmmm!!! Did you hear from -- today? I did not.
  16. I definitely do let -- know how long its been. I start off every email with "Just checking in, it's been 9 weeks.." "Its been 10 weeks...". He probably cannot wait til I hear a decision so he doesnt have to hear from me anymore, hah. I forget what I had in statistics... Probably a C+/B-. It wasnt my favorite course. All of my sciences have been done in the past 5 years or so. I emailed him earlier.. so far no response. I have had dreams they mixed me up with someone else.. oh man!! I sure hope not. My name is so different, how could they? haha. But its weird you havent received finanical aid webinar invites and I have. What do you have to do on the welcome call?
  17. No matter how many times I email and ask if there is anything I can do he says everything is all set. Have you received any emails to sign up for the financial aid webinar? because thats why i signed up for it. Does everyone have to take the bridge program? what classes because statistics are you taking? I would hate to wait to May, haha. I am so impatient and want to start already!
  18. That's such good advice, Tasha! I'll email DH and see how long ago the second reviewer has had my application. I would like to know soon so I can start planning for the future. Cause if I do need statistics, I want to take it now!!
  19. Nope, I never get a reason.. just that my application is still in the second admissions process. But it has been for weeks and weeks now. I submitted my app Nov. 4th and on Nov 8th they emailed me and said they have received all necessary requirements for my application and it is now under review. 2 months later and I am still waiting longer then people who submitted their apps much later than I am. I am so confused!!
  20. The wait it SO hard. Especially since Simmons said we will hear back within 4-6 weeks.. And I am going on to week 11. AHHH! I just want to know already. And I had my application in very early!! First week in November.. and people who passed theirs in later have already found out for the March Cohert. I want to know whats going on with my app.
  21. STILL waiting to hear back!! I talked to my admissions rep and he said my application is still under review with faculty. Its been about 10 weeks now. Is anyone else still waiting to hear about acceptance for the March Cohert? Does anyone know how many they accept for each cohert?
  22. Ohhhhh wow! Looks like I wont know til January!! Ill email him right now and see where it gets me.. but I won't hold my breath
  23. Ohh okay! My bio was taking in 2005 or 2006 so I guess that may explain it.. If the letter was suppose to be sent to me. I should email the guy back and say I'm sorry I have no idea what you're talking about as I don't even know if I'm accepted;) I attended the financial webinar today and --- messaged me in a chat but I didn't realize it til the end. He just said hi. I guess for his glad he should be happy I didn't realize it cause I would have gotten carried away with my application questions!! :)
  24. Thats what I was sort of thinking myself.. but didnt want to get carried away with the idea, haha. The email said ""The Simmons Student Financial Services team would like to welcome you to Nursing@Simmons! As someone who will be taking the Biology Fundamentals for Health Care Professionals bridge course, you may have questions about the financing options available to you during your first term."" So i'd love to know soon! This means I have to take a bio over?? which makes me concerned. I don't understand that.. so thats why I am thinking it really was a mistake. Anyways, Ill sit here and just try to be patient...again.
  25. Yea. I submitted everything Nov. 4th, and November 8th or 9th I received an email saying my application is complete is under review. So i emailed a few weeks ago (before thanksgiving) and he said it had been seen by the first reviewer and was being sent to the 2nd reviewer. So i'm going crazy over here.. like.. whats going on Simmons, haha. Id love to know before Christmas (well, if its good news anyways).
