  1. Technically you can work as an NP in a mental health setting. It would be wise and give you a competitive advantage to have a post-masters cert. in mental health since you are not getting a PMHNP. The advantage to having an NP is that if you get tired of psych, you can go back to general practise.
  2. Interested in knowing why you say FMHNP? Is there more freedom in job choices?
  3. Your GPA is probably fine if you have good references and work experience. I am trying to decide on whether to go the MSN or DNP route. I live in the west Chicago burbs and I'd love to go to Rush but they only have a DNP and I really feel that if I go that route, I might as well just go to med school to be a psychiatrist and at least make enough money to pay back my loans!
