  1. CNM Minion - No need to be sorry. :) I personally recommend the program. The clinical sites they secure for us have been so great and we get really good experience. The SIM lab and the standardized patients is what also sets this program apart from others. If you want to e-mail me what you're looking for in a program, I can maybe help you determine if this program is a good fit for you. [email protected]
  2. I'm currently a first year. :)
  3. Med Surg - 284 Hours (spans 2 semesters) Psych - 96 Hours Peds - 96 Hours L&D - 96 Hours Community - 96 Hours Leadership - 192 Hours Internship -192 Hours
  4. Congratulations everyone who got accepted! For those who are waitlisted, last year a handful of people got in from the waitlist so don't give up hope. I know everyone is extra excited to get the process started, but coming from experience don't everyone call the school with questions. I know udsmepn2013 and myself wouldn't mind answering any questions you have. I have requested to join your facebook group so I can answer questions there as well. Really do enjoy the next few months and congrats again!
  5. usdhopeful2014 - We cannot post names but she is the Director of Nursing Programs, which should narrow down your search.
  6. Aimee, I'm glad you had a good experience. To answer your questions, we don't write a thesis in this program. You would need to if you proceed to the DNP or PhD programs though. As for the meal plans, you can purchase but to be honest I do not think you need one. You're only on main campus, generally 1 day a week. Your first semester you will also be at the lab down the hill 1 day a week. You can add money to your ID card, which is called campus cash. This can also be used at a few of the places down the street in the Starbucks shopping center. Most people live off-campus as it tends to be cheaper than on-campus graduate housing. Hope this helps and hope to see you this summer as well.
  7. Hope you all had a great interview experience and best of luck to everyone. If you ever have any additional questions about the program, please don't hesitate to ask.
  8. LisaLou - Congrats on your interview. I would be happy to answer some questions. You can e-mail me at [email protected].
  9. Sorry guys. I thought it would be helpful to let you know they are working on sending out letters sooner than July. Didn't mean to add to the uneasiness.
  10. You're both very welcome. This board has been so supportive and helpful that I hope everyone gets in somewhere.
  11. To be honest, Western was my number one choice until the interview process. The disorganization and lack of communication made me feel a little uneasy, as well as the talk about changing the program's structure. I have heard amazing things about Western but when I interviewed for the USD MEPN program I was extremely impressed with everything they had to offer. I felt like they were trying to impress the applicants as much as we were trying to impress them. It was these minor differences that ultimately led me to my decision to go there instead. Plus it allowed me to open a seat for one of you very deserving applicants. :)
  12. Yes I got an alternate letter on March 18 and my interview date was February 13, so there is still hope! Don't give up quite yet.
  13. Just wanted to let you guys know, I received an acceptance yesterday and am declining today so that should open up another spot! Good luck to all of you. Keep your eyes on the prize and don't let a rejection or alternate letter deter you!
  14. I did try to get that information, but DM said that they don't give her anything like that unfortunately. For those who were alternates last year, were you ever told what number on the list you were?
  15. I got mine at 11:14 AM and my last name starts with H. The e-mails may be taking awhile too since each letter is individualized and isn't a mass e-mail like the interviews were. Hang in there RaminaJulia. Maybe it just means you're still in the running for acceptance!
  16. Yeah I couldn't believe that either. I need to start planning and figuring everything out financially. Not sure how anyone can just drop everything and start the first week.
  17. Got an alternate e-mail as well just now. Wish they had told us rank. Glad I got into another program at least. Congrats to everyone out there on their acceptances and alternate statuses. Hopefully things will work out for everyone. Thank you all for your constant support through this very trying time.
  18. I completely agree. I wish everything went out all at once. I think they need to streamline their process so people can just know their status already.
  19. Well said! This pit in my stomach is growing bigger. I'm saddened by all these rejection posts. You guys definitely deserve to be in a program!
  20. Oh no, I'm so sorry BlueEyes. Don't give up. I know it's hard to hear that, but I think persistence is the key and that would make you a great nurse!
  21. I agree too. It's just been a frustrating process and I hope their is closure soon. I had called yesterday but got no answers other than not all acceptances have been sent out. There is still some hope out there so don't give up. I'm a little disappointed because I held Western in such high regard after attending multiple preview days. The interview process was just a little bit of a let down after attending another program's and seeing how much they invested in the process and stuck to deadlines. The entire application process is stressful enough but the uncertainty of knowing when you will hear is probably the worst part. I think I would have more respect if they at least sent out an e-mail letting us know they had extended the interview process and at least let us know when we will be hearing, rather than the daily torture of will today be the day or not.
  22. That would be great to meet up before the actual program. Just requested to join the group as well. I'm so excited for August!!! Can't wait to get started.
  23. Keep us posted and if you don't get anywhere, I will give it a shot too. Tired of waiting and not knowing, even if it is a rejection, I'd rather know one way or another!
