I went to Seminole State College Nursing Program. It is less expensive than UCF and they offer a concurrent program with UCF. Basically you get your RN and take upper level BSN courses through UCF at the same time. The campus is in Altamonte. We have a 100% NCLEX pass rate for my class and the class before us :)

Yes, apply to PSA healthcare. THey are hiring LPNs right now. THis is what you can expect: submit application online. they will call you and offer you an invitation to their assessment center. you show up (you can wear scrubs) you learn about the company and they have you watch videos about company. Then, they ask you "what can you offer the company" - it's an interview (group and informal) Then, if you like what you see- a clinical person comes in. You watch a video about CPR (then she watches you do CPR) then you watch a video on changing a mickey/minnie. then she watches you do it. Then you take a test. then, if they like you they offer you a certificate of completion and then you get to find out your pay. THEN! you have to get a background check and all of that stuff. HAVE YOUR REFERENCES available...the paperwork requires 3 and they will call them before you move forward. They train you and will not send you to a house with a child that you can't care for. I just got hired with PSA and they are giving me $16 for RN pay. I am relocating to Miami and I figured as a GN with no contract...what the heck? But let me tell you, I did not go to school for a 2nd degree in nursing to get the same pay I had before!!

New grads in orlando make around $21 & there are TONS of nursing schools. They are pushing them out nurses SO fast & it's a pain! some hospitals are already "familiar" with the area nursing schools so they give those GNs jobs. Also, I have friends that were techs and still have not found GN jobs. It depends on your luck, I guess!

Hello everyone! I just graduated with my RN and will have my BSN in May 2013 I was wondering if anyone can give me advice! I am a new grad and I am relocating from Orlando to Miami, Florida. (because of my husbands job!) I am running into the same thing that (everyone else has run into!) all jobs require experience! That being said- ALLLLLLLL of the connections that I have made along the way are now USELESS because I am moving Do you know of a hospital that is hiring GNs? A hospital that might post "experience required" but still offers positions to GNs? A hospital that I may not have seen online during my search? A nursing home/LTC that is hiring (& not too terrible lol) Or a floor that is in need of nurses? any insider information that you may have gotten from doing your own search? Baptist South Miami has a versant program- the application is no where to be found! & jobs posted required experience and. . . University of Miami is only accepting applications from UM graduates In the mean time, I am going to work a home health agency until I move BUT I would love to have something secured before moving (Miami is $$ so pricey!!)
