Pensacola nursing schools good?
Avoid PJC at all costs. Their RN program is not NLN accredited. But if you ask them are they accredited they will tell you they are. They are state accredited.....but of course you have to be state accredited to even run a RN school. The NLN accreditation is the one that really counts. UWF program is very new but so far has shown to be very promising. Jefferson Davis Community College and Pensacola Christian College seems to put out the best and most prepared nurses that I have ever seen. Those are my only recommendations. I have coordinated many clinical programs in hosp. and nursing homes with several of the schools around and have actually taught in the LPN program at PJC for a semester...shudder I may not be a complete expert on the subject but I have had some close relationships with all the schools in the area and hope this helps some. As for me, I am running from the storms and headed back home. You are welcome to buy my home as I head out:chuckle

Hello to Knoxville !!
Sorry, didn't mean to generalize Tn so much in that statement. :uhoh21: Was talking about the mountainous areas of east Tn. I always felt pretty sheltered there. I miss that.

Find YOUR spot..........
Thank you for the link, Dave. :) This was a cool little test. And of course it reinforced my reasons for moving back home (Kingsport, Tn) It was one of the first on my list. I am now in Florida, although I am in the panhandle (Pensacola). I like it here ok but the pay is lower than anyplace I have ever worked (It definately ain't south Fl) and I am really tired of all the storms (I shudder to say the "h" word) I am putting my house back together (Thank you, Ivan) and I am packing it in to skip back home.

Hello to Knoxville !!
Man, I believe everyone from Florida is headed to Tn. Seems everyone I run into is anyways. My hubby and I, our best friends and SEVERAL other friends are headed there within the next year. As far as salaries go, I suppose it depends upon where you are coming from in Fl as to whether the salaries are that different. If you are coming from Pensacola area, you might find the salaries are even higher there than in Fl. Pensacola cost of living has doubled in the past few years but the salaries have stayed about the same. Cost of living in Tn (Kingsport anyways) is about half of what it is here and I am seeing jobs for higher than I am making here. Personally, I'll just be glad to be back home. I sure have missed those georgous mountains. Especially lately. Good luck all in your search for the right job. Tennessee is a great place to live. Oh, and no hurricaines or tornados. That's the best part

Nurse:patient ratio's in upper east Tn
All you guys in Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City areas, what is your nurse patient ratio in hospital setting now? That area is my home and after the past few devistating hurricaines here in Pensacola, hubby and I have decided we have had enough of the wind and we are moving home next spring. Believe it or not the salaries are very comparable to this area of Florida (and actually better it seems) but I have not been able to find out the ratio's Just sign me, RN on her way home.... Anyone in upper East TN? Even Knoxville area?
