How to decline interview
Hi, I have been offered a job for a week now and already started the signing of paperwork and drug testing for job, but I got a call today for an interview for another hospital. Last week I did a phone interview and the recruiter said she will get my application to the manager. Well since last week I didn't hear anything back till today but I have already accepted another offer. How do I decline them politely so that they won't reject me in the future if I apply with them again? Any advice will be appreciated

Advice on giving two weeks notice...
Hi, I want to get some advice on how to write a two weeks notice. This is my first time doing this but have no clue on what to do. I just got offer a new job that is closer to where I live and shorter commute then my current workplace which takes about an hour to get there. I am nervous about giving it to my manager because the unit will get short staff and I think she might get very upset about it but I am tired of having to commute an hour to work with horrible traffic and I am looking forward to the new job. Any advice on how to handle the situation with manager and what to say on the two weeks notice will be appreciated, thanks.

Got verbal offer, waiting for written offer.
Hi, I just got a verbal offer from the manager after interview that I got the job. I am now waiting for the written offer from HR. He said that I should hear back about the official offer later today or early next week. I just want what to know if anyone else had to wait too for the official offer and how long? He was already giving me details about orientation and how the schedule works, and also other details. I am just anxiously waiting for the HR person to call me because I want the official papers before I give my two weeks notice so I can be totally sure that I got the job, any advice will be appreciated. Job Fairs is it worth it??
I am wondering if I should go to this hospital's job fair next week. It is for experience nurses and I already have two years of working med/surg. I want to go into maternal/child nursing but not sure if I go to this job fair will I get a offer for a position in that area. Should I go and see or just keep searching through job postings? Are job fairs worth to go to? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.

Should I go from days to nights???
Hi, I am currently looking for a new job closer to where I live because at my current one it takes about an hour commute and I have to deal with rush hour traffic. I am working on day shifts but since I have been looking for jobs that are much closer to home, most are night shifts. I really want to leave soon and ready to start a new area to work in but not sure if I should make the switch from days to nights. Any advice on what to do? Does it take alot of time to adjust working night shifts? Any input will be appreciated, thanks.

I have a year of experience and I wanted to know do I still need to keep my clinical rotations on there or can I take them off and just leave my current work experience? Also, should I keep any volunteer experiences from college and memberships that I joined from college on there or do I remove them? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Am I too Quiet for Nursing???
Hi, I am a current new grad off for orientation for about a month now and I am being constantly told I am too quiet. Even my manger mentioned it to me and said I was quiet and she can not figure me out or how I am doing. Also, my coworkers and some techs have told me the same thing. I do not know what to do. I can not change how I am overnight and I have always had a quiet personality. I do open up and become more comfortable with people when I get to know them better. I just hate hearing this same comment over and over again and sometimes I just feel like maybe nursing is not for me. It has been a stressful couple of weeks because I am trying to adjust working by myself and I also feel like I have not develop my critical thinking skills yet. Any advice on what to do?? As well as when will I start to feel more comfortable and start to develop better in my critical thinking? Is being quiet a bad thing in nursing?

Got Told I am Slow in Receiving Report
Hello, I am a new grad and just got off orientation for about a month now. My manager told me today that she heard from other night nurses that I am slow in receiving report. I was surprised by that comment because I thought I was doing fine. I don't know why the other nurses told her that. We all use the same sbar sheet to fill out during reports and we go through the form from top to bottom. Makes me feel like I am not doing good and it has been a difficult couple of weeks for me since now I am on my own and this comment makes me feel worse. I have been stressed out at my job in trying to manage my time and handle caring for 6 patients. I hope things will get better in the future but I don't know. Any advice on how to adjust after orientation and how to develop better as well in my critical thinking skills as well as tips in how to handle those comments? Thanks,

Got Interview at Houston Methodist Next Wednesday!!!
Hi, I agree with what Alherm posted, be prepared for questions like that. Like the post said it is very competitive to get into their residency program. Be prepared to answer behavioral type questions, since most interviews like to ask those type of questions. Good luck on your interview!

Should I go to job fair???
Hi, I am a new grad still looking for their first job but stressing out in getting one. I feel so much pressure in getting one in the next month because I have student loans repayments coming up. I saw there is a Houston Chronicle Job Fair coming up and I wanted to know is it worth it for a new grad RN to go or will they want RNs with experience? I have never been to one but I want to check it out but want to make sure that they are willing to receive a resume from a new grad. Any information on it will be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

Should I take this RN position and begin getting experience?
Hi, I am a new grad since this past May and have been looking for jobs ever since. I have applied to many places and some interviews but nothing came out. Not too long ago I interviewed at this research center where they needed a nurse. They liked me and said I did well in the interview. I just got offered the position but it is not full-time and HR said they are considering me as a hourly employee because right now they want a RN with more experience to be considered full time. I will get paid I think $24/hr but have no benefits and work for different hours, such as some weeks 20, others 30 and possibly just 10. The reason she said I will not be full time is because I am a new grad and have limited experience where I will be needing lots of training. She also mentioned that if I can be competent on my own within a couple of months maybe I will be bump up to full time position. I said I will think about it and email her back soon if I want this position. I do not know if I should take it because I want to start full time and work more hours but then I really need a job and not sure what to do. I know it is important to start getting some experience and I just had an interview yesterday for an internship which I have not heard back if I got in or not since they are still doing panels all this week and some next week, and I am not sure when I will back from them. Any advice on what I should do? Should I take it or keep looking? Thanks!!

Need Advice on How to be Confident during Interviews!
Hi, I need some some on help on how to be confident during my interviews and not to let my nervousness come in. I have had some interviews before but due to me being nervous and not feeling that confident I have not received any job offers. It sucks because I have been looking for jobs for awhile and I really need one. I do prepare well and practiced my answers but I always seem to get nervous at the time of the interview. I also get nervous because when I try to prepare my answers there are some behavioral questions that I can not seem to think an answer to them. What should I do in order to do well in interviews and be able to land a position? Thanks!!!

Post Interview Followup
Got an email finally from the HR person. She said they are still undecided and still interviewing. Mentioned I would be a excellent fit but then they are leaning towards someone with experience and to allow them to have their options open at this time. So, I am guessing I might not get it since they are still interviewing and want someone with experience. Oh well, I kinda of knew that since I have not heard back from them last week.

Post Interview Followup
Forgot to add I emailed both the interviewers and HR person about what the status was.

Post Interview Followup
Hello, I had an interview about two weeks ago for a position. The interview went very well, the interviewers seem to liked me and I was able to talk to one the the human resources administrator where we started to discuss about salary, she asked for my references, and went over more my resume. She said I will hear back within a week. That week went by and now it will be almost two weeks since my interview. I sent her an email at the end of last week and have not heard back at all. All of them made it sound I was going to get the job, but know l am not sure anymore. Should I guess forget about it and just move on the the next one? I have other two interviews coming up at least. I am still looking for my first nursing position and have been looking since May, which has been discouraging because I am really ready to begin my nursing career. Any advice on what to do will be helpful!!!

I think you have to be officially invited. I applied about a week ago for the internship and just yesterday I received an email from a recruiter that I was invited for the information session.
