Hard of Hearing Nurses? Possible? How?
This may make you laugh right outloud: The stethoscope that I am using I took off of one of those BP kits from Walgreen's. Believe it or not - that's the one I can hear the best out of. I have discovered that: a) single tube, b) small lumen tube scopes work the best for the hard of hearing. The other thing that seems to make a difference is the distance that the sound is required to travel. Shorter length helps. Maybe when I quit being a student and start being a nurse I'll have time to work on something that will be a little more cost-effective for us all. One never knows. :chuckle

I wear one hearing aide (when I have to) and should be wearing two - they cost a lot of money and insurance doesn't cover them. Read lips if you don't want to wear them. People don't speak softly during codes. They have great amplification systems for- NS for urine replacement & mannitol ?
My reply should have read "promoting the removal of the edema" OOOPS! I seemed to have lost part of the reply in the cyber file 13. Sorry- NS for urine replacement & mannitol ?
I would like to know what this person's BP is running. I think the idea is to maintain adequate hydration in the body while promoting the edema. Further, mannitol increases the osmolarity of the glomular filtrates. If the 'salts' are increased in the glomular tubules, water will follow. Without replacement, hyponatremia ensues. Putting it back seems to make sense. Hope this helps.- NS for urine replacement & mannitol ?

I keep telling you to be patient. The right one will come along. Take what you can get until you get through the first year. That is why so many places in our area don't want to hire first year grads. They aren't set up to do what the Board tells them to do - cover us for six months and teach us what we need to know. Relax G - it'll happen. I love ya', but you didn't call and tell me the results of our 2 pm friend I should be home the afternoon. Call me and we'll see what we can find together. We might have to extend your search area a bit. Rocks - Hard of Hearing Nurses? Possible? How?
