BTW....the hospital is so backed up that there are at least 8-12 intubated in the ER for extended periods of time. Last I heard, there were 3 confirmed cases of H1N1.

Atheism in nursing
I hear you. The Son of a Son of a Missionary since 1915. At 2 years old I went to India, that was '58. Grew up in a missionary school, went thru the whole trauma. Walking into a church makes me physically nauseated. Having said that....if I am forced into this position I would do what Don Juan does. I would find a place of security on my body and place my attention there while in this experience. ie: I would watch the experience from 'above' my right shoulder, not from my head. Remove my ego personality from it. If you have been an RN for any amount of time, you have a gift. If you have survived it, you have the gift to remove yourself from the situation. Understand that and you can work as an RN forever. Sit back and say OMmmmmmmm....

This is what you can expect here. Med/surg, 8 patients minimum. 10 to 12 is realistic. Nurses aide to patient ratio 1:16. Poor services all around. Pharmacy is overwhelmed, so expect 6-8 hour fill time. Lab is a given 2-4 hour lapse time. Stat has little meaning. If you work ICU....3 patients minimum. (Don't listen to the recruiters) 1 NA for 24 pts. And they have zero motivation. On a good night you will have a charge nurse. The Philippinos work together, the locals do not. Support services are minimal. No food for patients. The Pyxis are bare. If you are culturally local, you have a fair chance of surviving. If not, you will NOT enjoy this experience. Only for the desperate and down out as they will hire anybody. Suck it up for a short stint and get the heck out!!!

Stop! Think about it again. Been here for 8 months and been used, abused, and discredited. Think twice and then again...

My feet HURT!!!
After 25 yrs in nursing I figured out that the more toxic my body was, the more my feet hurt! I recommend a wholesome diet, plenty of water and an intestinal cleanse of your choice.

Need a No Brainer ACLS guaranteed
OK. I admit it. I have been a Rehab/LTC RN for 25+ years and cardiac is definately not my forte. But now I am required to go online for ACLS and am a little lost. So, any help here in finding a no brainer easy-breasy ACLS online?? Anything would help at this time.......
