  1. thanks a lot bro. Salinas sounds cool, but I have a friend who is a CO out there, and he says that there isnt much to do around there. Oh well..
  2. Also, do you know which facilites offer 12 hour shifts? Where specifically in the prison? live in southern california, are there any places that have 12 hours shifts near los angeles? Chino, lancaster, corona??? thanks
  3. Tirzo, Thanks for your help. I have a few questions... I too am a new graduate interested in corrections. My first question is, as a new grad I dont have any experience, do the prisons offer an orientation (nursing, not just prison protocol)? Or do they assume you know the specifics of a job? I only know what I learned in school and during my preceptorship in the E.R. Thank your for your help. Jorge
  4. They no longer base the trimester vs. basic decision on score. Its now based off of lottery once you are ALREADY IN the program. They started this spring of 05. So once you get accepted based off of your score, they have a lottery to see who gets in the basic and who gets in the trimester.
  5. not all schools have waiting list. My school doesnt. I attend cal state long beach's nursing program. I too attended both elac and rio hondo, and applied from there to csulb. Im not gonna lie, Its competitive as hell. You pretty much need atleast a 3.5 to even have a realistic chance of getting in. There are three categories that determine acceptance: 1. Entrance Critical Thinking exam (tough) 2. Grades 3. Interview Y'all should consider applying. There are two programs: basic (3 year) and trimester (two years). Im in the trimester. Its a great school with great people. I applied to other schools as well, so if any of you have questions email me at: [email protected] good luck. jorge
