  1. after doing shift work for the past 19years (gee i didn't realise i was getting that old) i made the switch from emergency nursing to "school nurse" 0900 - 1430 m-f school days only. there is many jobs out there with "school hours" school nursing is just one of them. more colleges in the suburbs are starting to employ nurses to assist with health promotion and education. there is immunization nurses. there's been an increase in gp clinics requesting nurses. (my local gp advertised only a fortnight ago). my local hospital has offered me half shifts any time i want. some councils employ nurses to help out in women's health clinics. home nursing is also an option. i believe the rdns has more 'family friendly' hours. there is of course 'job sharing'. many schools or neighbouring schools have before and after school care. if you ask around the nursing agencies i'm sure they'll be able to tell you other jobs that be more suited to you. good luck.
