  1. What's Fri Q&A (is that on April 5?)? I am so wierd, faced with having all these conflicts...I chose to add NUR 42A & 42B...but not NUR 41. In reality, we are all pretty much in the same class i think unless they divide us into 2 groups i believe. So i better stop trying to register and wait till Apr 5.
  2. Well, I somehow managed to register for 3 of the 5 theory courses and both the clinical courses listed in our packet for Section 1. I am assuming section 1 is the 1 semester for our year (that begins May and ends in Aug). The other 2 theory courses wouldn't let me register because the hours listed go against each other. Hopefully they change the hours or add more classes? I don't know. Maybe i am getting ahead of myself. oh well.
  3. Probably...I finally turned my financial loan acceptance letter. But the business office says we have to complete the Loan Counseling Online and the MPN (Promissory Note) right away. So maybe that is why. So, Maybe i will wait a couple of days and try again.
  4. For those who don't have insurance yet (like myself) and need physicals...I recommend #3 on the packet they sent out. It says Women's Wellness Health Center...but its now called Aliva Wellness (address is 420 E. 3rd St Suite 810 LA, 90013 in Little Tokyo). The reason is they have catered to many incoming MSMC students and know the exact requirements. It is cheap at $180 bucks for the nursing package...that's for everything like physicals, CBC, urinalysis, TB skin test and the very important titers (though they don't do vaccinations). But this might help especially if our immunization records are sketchy at best. So I don't want to just go and pay for 3 doses of Hep series when getting the titers help establish what we need next in terms of vaccination. I know you need TDAP anyways...but thats the only thing. MMR i might already have... Another plus is its fast, and they might have some forms that MSMC forgot to send (ie. they forgot to send the TB exam forms so they had that on file). It helps the nurse practitioner who runs this place knows the staff at MSMC very well. Their website is Aliva | Non-profit, integrative health center in Los Angeles or call to make appt. 213-625-0717. The phone# on the packet is wrong.
  5. Anybody else having trouble registering for the classes in our packet. For like a second I had one section pop up...I tried to register....and never to appear again. I am beginning to be bugged by the computer system...i'll try again tomorrow.
  6. Thanks Anita for guiding me into the facebook page. I finally found it.
  7. I can't find the facebook group too ... plus I can't PM anyone on this site yet cuz I haven't posted enough. But on the brightside...I got the packet finally today. So much to do...hmmm.
  8. What exactly is the Versant program? Ive kindah heard a little about it...but its only because im about to start on the AccBSN program at Mount St. Mary's. I thought they pay for about 2/3rds of your tuitions in exchange for you working with them for 2 years. But does that mean I have to finish the AccBSN program first, apply. OR I apply right this instant.
  9. I even think that the name Registered Nurse sounds to Post office like. So i guess Certified Nurse, First-Class Nurse, and Express Nurse could add to the dimension too? How about Snail-MALE nurse.....for the slow guy nurses out there?
  10. I am a future male nursing student who will start in May at Mount St. Mary's in California. Still, I've thought about this many times and the comments here by the current nurses or nursing students are really informative. Just remember, assess the situation quickly and respond in a matter that is both professional and courteous to any patients. Remember, male or female, most patients are strangers at first to their nurses and it takes time for uncomfortability to go away sometimes. Either way....be prepared to have different situations all the time. To respond to anything without breaking a sweat is what we nurses should achieve.
  11. I saw a group that said MSMC ABSN Class of 2014 (So are we the May 2013 Cohort? or the Class of 2014 Summer Cohort...of which we have to differentiate from the Class of 2014 Fall Cohort Aug 2013 to Aug 2014? Quick...we need to identify ourselves...he he
  12. The above method works too. I don't know much about "navigating"..but I erased the word "applicant" between the two forward slashes /applicant/ to the word /student/ and it added more gateways and windows (man..this site takes getting used to...just like new freakin Windows 8 : ) So that might be the best way to get to our main portal of the email ....great job superfryk.
  13. oh well. mail came today already for me in Long Beach. No packet yet. Why are we all so anxious about these packets? We are already accepted and we got that email telling us a lot of the things to expect. Anywayssss...found that darn elusive yellow immunization card..probably will need lots of shots and updated ones too. Can I learn to give myself a shot? : )
  14. Hopefully you got the packet by now. If you go the portal and look under financial aid by term and go by summer 13....you should see how much you get. Now I am going thru the packet and have to figure out the "Loan Entrance Counseling Instructions." BTW, your award letter you need to sign and send it back by April 15.
  15. I finally got the email thru MYMSMC to work. Its powered thru Google. It was hard to find the link...but if anyone else is having trouble, go to your regular MYMSMC portal and search student email instructions and/or try this http://www.msmc.la.edu/PDFFiles/orientation/student-email-instructions.pdf or this https://sam.mount.msmc.la.edu/simplesaml/auth/login.php?RelayState=https%3A%2F%2Fsam.mount.msmc.la.edu%2Fsimplesaml%2Fsaml2%2Fidp%2FSSOService.php%3FRequestID%3D_8710028afa1c2d6a9d6bd576bdaebdafda910f4c21&AuthId=_8710028afa1c2d6a9d6bd576bdaebdafda910f4c21&protocol=saml2
