  1. Congrats to those who were accepted. If you don't mind sharing, could you post your stats/bio?
  2. I'm also applying for the Fall 2014 class. After this semester, the only pre-reqs I'll have are nutrition and developmental psych. I have a less than stellar undergrad GPA for my prior degree from 14 years ago. However, I have all A's in my completed pre-reqs now. Anyone know if recent pre-req grades carry more weight than your prior degree GPA from many years ago? Also, how many recommendation letters are optimal? One page on their site said 1 letter, and another page said 1-2. Not sure if it really helps to have a second one. My first one will be from my A&P 1 & 2 professor, which should be a very good one. Good luck everyone!
  3. Hello, I have a few questions about my situation. I am currently taking my pre-reqs to apply for an accelerated BSN program. After this summer term, I have to take A&P2 and Microbiology, and then I can submit my application. The program I am thinking about has a new class for fall, spring, and summer. I can either take A&P2 and Micro together this fall, and apply after that semester for potential acceptance to begin in the summer of 2014. My other option is to take A&P2 this fall, followed by Micro in the spring, then apply for the program that starts in the fall of 2014. Obviously, it's easier if I took A&P2 and Micro separately. But I have heard that it's easier to get into the program that begins in the summer, vs the fall which may have more competition. Just wondering if this is typically true of ABSN programs, and if it's worth it to take both classes together just so I can start in the summer instead of the fall. Also, any advice on just how difficult it is to take both A&P2 and Micro together? I got a solid A in A&P1 and for my chem class, I got an easy A too, if that's any indication of my potential. Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks for the reply. Would you say this per diem experience helped you land your first position after getting your Rn? I'm just not sure how critical it is to have this type of experience along with the degree.
  5. For a nursing student working towards a degree, how necessary is it that he/she get a part time job related to healthcare (ie. ED tech, medical assistant, etc)? I'm basically unsure if I should put effort into finding this type of related experience while in school, or if it's more important to just focus on my studies to do well. Thanks in advance!
  6. I am taking my pre-requisites now, and heavily considering going into a nursing program. The thing is, for a few reasons, I can only go for an associates degree program at this time. I'm hoping that after I finish, I can do an RN-BSN program in a reasonable amount of time. Question is though, is it totally hopeless these days for new RNs with an ADN only vs a BSN? I'm sure it'll be next to impossible to get hired as a new ADN RN at a major hospital in NJ, but what about other places of care? Thanks in advance!
