I assume after March 18th we will be sent more stuff in the mail. That's probably when ISIS will show changes because until we confirm the acceptance nothing is "set in stone." I both faxed and mailed my confirmation just to be sure it got there!

Sure enough, I did! I also got into UF's ABSN program. I ultimately chose UF mainly because I already live in Gainesville and the tuition is about half of what JU charges. I'm glad to hear I was chosing between two excellent programs!

On the Wednesday before the interview I received an acceptance letter from UF's accelerated program! So, I declined the interview. That's one less UNF applicant for someone to compete with!

I received my JU acceptance letter yesterday, however, I was accepted by UF (and I live in Gainesville) so I will be declining JU's offer. That's good news for someone on the waitlist!

After all my freaking out . . . I was accepted! This is so exciting! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Way to go Nettegator! I hope tomorrow I can say we are classmates! I'm looking forward to a thick envelope.... nothing came in today. A multi-page rejection letter would just be cruel and unusual.

I'm a Gainesvillian. Haven't received anything yet. I'm veeeery excited for my shift to end so I can go check my mailbox! I've read that in previous years the acceptance letters were accompanied by a personal phone call. So, has anyone had a call? Weird that the letter came in a regular envelope. I would have thought it would be a large 8x11 envelope.

Yes, I did good too so I hope they use something like that. I'm guessing it at least shows what they prioritize. By the way . . . it's March!!!

ddl77, I agree. It's not over til it's over. But it doesn't hurt to multiple back-up plans! Nettegator, thanks for posting the link. That's where I found the petition form, too. GatorLove, yep there's a score sheet. I think it gives us a good insight into the decision process.

I still don't exist on ISIS beyond a log-in name. Hmmmm If I wasn't accepted I'm going to write a petition because I believe that with my stats I'm worthy of a second look. Interestingly the petition form has questions on it that they don't ask during the normal application process. It reads almost like an interview. There is a second page to the petition form that is a list of items that the petitioner can be scored for. You get points for things such as related work experience and prerequisite course grades. Question to anyone who's done this before: am I supposed to score myself or does the faculty do this? When I score myself I come up with 24 out of 25 possible points. But some of the items are rather subjective, such as " written statement reflects organization and clarity of thought." I going ahead with the essay section of the petition so I'll be ready to respond if I'm not accepted.

The waiting game is almost over! Regardless of the outcome we all want to know as soon as possible so we can get out affairs in order . . . quit jobs, move, etc.

My registration prep shows "record not found." There is no registration date. If I check Admissions it still says I have no active applications, just like it did throughout the entire process. Eh, there's still time.

If your numbers are indeed right then I'm in a good position. I'll take any shread of encouragement I can get! I'm not sure what my GPA is for my 60 most recent credits, but my last BS GPA was 3.8. My pre-req GPA is 4.0 and that ain't too shabby. On the GRE I scored 164V 151Q. I don't even remember if it was 164 or 165 for verbal . . . feels like it was years ago but it has only been a few months. I pretty much bombed the writing section, however. I didn't study for it at all. UF says they don't count your GRE writing score yet they clearly asked for it on the application. I was told it was optional but maybe they mean it is optional in the sense that applying to the program is optional. Sure, you don't have to apply and you also don't have to be a nurse; it is optional!

UF actually does not do interviews. Surprising, right? It's great to have one less interview to stress about but at the same time it makes all the details of my application that much more significant. I have an interview with UNF on March 8th. I've read on this site that UNF's interviews are more formal than JU. JU was pretty laid-back as far as interviews go. The two interviewers were both faculty members and asked a series of prepared questions. They ended it with an essay question.

Runaway inductive reasoning perhaps. j/k. Your idea makes sense. They probably have internal deadlines set to help manage the workload. I really hope the decisions come on time. If they are later than I am anticipating I may already be accepted elsewhere and that involves moving. I'd need time to find a rental house and move all my possessions, redirect mail/bills/services, etc... a huge process that I cannot put off to the last minute! I mean literally in mid-March I will be house-hunting (if I get accepted in Jacksonville) and if I receive an acceptance letter from UF the day after I sign a lease somewhere, well, that's a day too late.

I had an interview with Jacksonville University a couple weeks ago. I was satisfied with my interview performance. It could have been better (maybe) but no serious mistakes or blank-outs or awkward answers, and the content of my answers was solid overall. My takeaway from that experience was that my academics combined with a good enough interview should make me competitive to get accepted. Now all I can do is wait and try to stay calm! While I'm waiting for results I'm researching ABSN programs. What if I am accepted into more than one program?! I can compare curriculums and costs but I'm more interested in hearing from people who have gone to Jacksonville University. It costs more than state schools... was it worth it? Does JU have good connections to hospitals that helped you land good clinical spots and a job when you graduated? Did having JU on your CV help you get hired at a good salary? I'm really interested in working in a challenging position. I'm thinking ICU or emergency medicine. This sort of experience would help me later in my career when I decide to return to school for a DNP. There's going to be students who loved JU and those who regretted it. I would like to hear from both. Right now I have a favorable impression of JU because I perceive that they have a good reputation and their students make desirable new hires.

I am applying to several Accelerated BSN programs. I am interviewing at Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida, and it is very possible that I will have to make a choice between these two schools (should both accept me). I would like to hear from people who've been to either of these schools. What did you most like and most dislike about their nursing programs? If you could go back in time would you change your decision?

Someone sent my a private message asking: "I wanted to ask where you heard that UF takes more than 27 people? as a UF student, I was told they only take around 25 people! but if they take more I am interested to hear about it! thanks in advance!" Apparently I can't do private messages yet because I haven't been active enough on the site, so here's my answer: I had lunch with someone in the ABSN program and she described it to me.

Haha, that's an awesome non-answer they gave you. Really I suppose they can't divulge too much information about their selection process. I have a 3.75 and 3.8 GPA on my first and second bachelor's degrees, respectively. A 4.0 on my prereqs. On the GRE I scored 165 verbal 151 quantitative. I met the requirements, no doubt, but considering there isn't an interview it must all come down to the essay and CV. I'm worried that no amount of professional work will make up for my lack of volunteer work... but between working full time through two BAs and nursing prerequisites it's kinda tough. Anyway, keep checking that mail box every day! I see that no one here has received an acceptance letter so there's still hope!

That's great that they give a tour of the lab! Probably makes you all the more eager to get in.

Hi Danielle, I have an interview at JU coming up soon. I understand it is a group interview and an essay is involved, but are there any details you could share? What kind of questions do they ask? Do they set it up like a sort of debate between applicants or more direct questions? I love getting any bit of info I can find! thanks
