The days of relying on nursing homes or hd centers are over. These days those places will screen u out if u have termination or board orders. Here in Richmond, the hospitals will not let you even interview. My applications on line quickly gave me the message that my application was not moving forward. Some as soon as 30 minutes.
My hospital is more friendly then most. I am working at UVA. PM me and we can talk. I know of several HPMP folks that have been hired at UVA. In Richmond you are screened in HR and you never get a chance!
I feel your pain. I find it ironic that our so called compassionate profession is so the opposite with there own. I had a breakdown which required 6 days in the hospital. My behavior never entered my nursing care but I was terminated. After 8 months and a bankruptcy, I was able to find a job an hour and ten minutes away. No one in Richmond will touch me. When I disclose that I was terminated my application quickly gets put in the trash can. Sometimes it is less then 30 minutes after I submit it on line. The job I have now is less then ideal but it is work. There are few HPMP friendly hospitals out there. I heard of one in Williamsburg that actually has a HPMP liason. Time and distance unfortunately is our best ally.
