Does anyone know anything about the Southeastern Virginia Training Center/Chesapeake?
I have an interview in the next week or two. I know its a state run agency for people w/ disabilities, and that its in Chesapeake? Anyone ever worked there or know someone who does/did? How are the working conditions, pay, benefits, etc. Thanks for any input! -lisa

RN needs work in VA w/ disciplinary action
Hi everyone. Well, after 3 months of looking for a RN postion ANYWHERE near the Va Beach area?...ive still had no luck. does anyone know of a place where I might look and be successful? I have 17 years experience, (mostly med/surg, tele, charge nurse, long term care unit manager, travel nursing, etc). I have an open schedule, and am NOT picky when it comes to WHERE i work. My discipline stems from a 2005 narcotic diversion at work issue. I was in IPN in Florida. I have a history of my VA license being suspended, (while they investigated my FLorida doings once I returned home last year). The Va BON TOTALLY REINSTATED MY LICENSE, NO RESTRICTIONS, and gave me a reprimand. However, I still cant find employment. Does anyone know of a facility, a DON, a nurse manager, SOMEONE, who will give me a chance? Ive been employed in Florida since 2006, after going to rehab and entering IPN. I have stellar references. What gives in Virginia??? I found it easier to get a job when i was in the IPN with a key restriction!

RN needs work in VA w/ disciplinary action
Dogmom, OMG!!! PLEASE lets talk....Im not sure what "board issue friendly" is, but hopefully it would apply to me. My email is cutenurse1973 at yahoo. Please give me some info on where you work. I will work ANYWHERE...Plus Im a darned good nurse with a great attitude, all things considered :) Im still having no luck, ie....went for an interview at a dialysis center, the lady all but hired me over the phone. She said, "...and we can talk about 'all of the other stuff you listed on your application' when you get here".............. So i went, and explained EVERYTHING to her. She said they were in DESPERATE need of a RN there, and not many people with my kind of experience ever apply to a diaysis center. I left thinking "I have this job in the bag", thats how great the interview went. 2 days later, I called to check on the status, she said "Oh Hi, I was going to call you, I went ahead and hired SOMEONE ELSE with MORE experience." Yeah, RIGHT!! Like someone else just HAPPENED to apply...within 2 days of my interview,....with MORE experience,....and she called them, interviewed, AND hired them....all within the 2 days that I was thinking I had landed a new job. I cant understand this. I have an ACTIVE UNRESTRICTED RN LICENSE. NO stipulations, no HPMP, no restrictions, no probations. With 17 years experience, and stellar references, AND a solid work history since 2005, AND I am CURRENTLY EMPLOYED with Favorite Staffing. Im literally in tears right now!!!!! -lisa

RN needs work in VA w/ disciplinary action
Hi everyone. Im a RN trying to find employment in Virginia. I have a reprimand on my license after it was suspended briefly due to investigation. (I was in the Florida IPN for 5 years. Virginia is my home state. Once I returned to VA, the BON did an investigation as to the status that should be taken on my VA license....they FULLY REINSTATED MY LICENSE, WITH A MULTISTATE COMPACT PRIVILEGE, NO RESTRICTIONS, ...but did reprimand me). After the hearing, the VA BON members (the investigators, etc) told me they had NEVER seen a license totally reinstated like mine was!! I was so relieved. NOW>>> I cant get a job. Everyone wants to hire me, but when I disclose the info about the discipline, they promptly look it up, and I guess see that its "recent", and decline to go further w/ the interview process. I have tried everywhere. I DID get ONE staffing agency to hire me. The problem is that every time I go to work, at lets say a long term care facility, they want to hire me there...but that is before they find out about the discipline. I am in the VA beach area, but would accept any employment state wide. Does anyone have any pointers or suggestions? Im already blackballed from the Bon Secours facilities...d/t the discipline. Its like they dont even take the time to hear me out or let me explain. And every application these days asks you up front if you have ever had disciplinary action taken. What do I do?????
