New MICU Nurse
I'm a new grad working in the Medical ICU and I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on a good critical care nursing book that I can use to study. I find myself lost a lot of the times and I know I will learn with experience but I want to be able to know what to do when something goes wrong or what I should be looking for and so on. So I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I want to quit ICU after one week.
I am a new nurse working in the MICU, so i feel your pain. Give it some time you will adapt to the change. At the beginning i felt the same you did while working in the ICU, i hated it, but it was because i wasn't use to my surroundings and the acuity of the patients. Once you get the hang of what you are trying to do it will become second nature and you will love your job. I hope this helps. P.S. Ive only been a nurse for 6 months and I've officially been on my own for a little over a month now, so i feel you girl!

Nursing Informatics to CRNA
So I am in a crappy situation. I graduated from nursing school with my BSN in May of 2015. I am a new nurse working in the Medical ICU. I moved 3 states away from my home state and my family for this job because I plan to go to CRNA school once I get my two years of ICU experience. That being said, student loans have kicked in for repayment and most of them are from private lenders. My student Lon payments monthly are about $800 a month on top of rent and everything else I need to pay for. So I want to return to school to get my MSN in Nursing Informatics in order to defer my student loans. In the time it will take me to get my two years of experience I will also earn my masters in nursing informatics and then I would like to go to CRNA school for a dual program to get my masters and DNP. I've noticed that some CRNAs move forward and get there phD in nursing informatics. Anyone have any advice for me on whether this is a good idea or not. I'm doing informatics solely so I can defer my student loan payments because my true passion is CRNA. But informatics will benefit me as well. Thanks!

Appearance?
So I'm just wondering... I'm starting nursing school on the 7th at Nova Southeastern University in FL and I wanted to know any thoughts about what a nurse "should" look like. I don't even know if that makes sense lol. I'm all about my unique and different to some personality with tattoos and purple hair (not normal colored hair). Does anyone think this would take away from my career? I mean I have seen nurses with wild hair and tattoos and I thought that was totally rad cause they were different but I don't want people to be afraid of me or not to be taken seriously. Any advice? I love my tattoos and hair and I do not regret them one bit by the way.
