Scope of Practice
This is my understanding also, the physician and PA want me to fill out how long the patient can stay out of work and the other medical portions. They also, don't want to review anything, they just sign want to sign it.

Scope of Practice
I have been an LPN for 16 years; I have a very clear understanding of my scope of practice. I have been with this company for 1 year. In that time, there have been several instances that the physician and office manager have asked me to work outside of my scope, which I have refused. One issue that continues to come up if filling out FLMA paperwork. I understand that I can fill out the secretarial aspects of the paperwork, such as patient name, address, phone number, physician, name, phone number and address. The physician insists that I need to fill out the medical questions and all she has to do is sign the form. Please tell me if this is within my scope or not.

JP Drain
I just started a new job in a new state. Can an LPN remove a JP drain without an RN supervisor, PA or physician in the office in the state of Florida? Is this in our scope of practice?

On Call
I would like to know if it's legal to be on call for 24 hrs, 4 days in a row? Are there any regulations regarding the amount of time someone is expected to be on call? Is it logical to be asked to work a day time shift from 8am-5pm, then be asked at 7pm to come in to work the 10p-6am shift? When are you expected to sleep? How can that be safe for the patients?

How much training did you get?
I just started working at a LTC facility. I have two floors with 40 residents. I worked one night 5-10 following a nurse, then I started the 6-2 shift for the weekend. I followed the nurse yesterday and got familiar with the residents and the med. pass. Today she threw me in on my own???? Is that it??? Am I supposed to know what I'm doing? So how much training did you recieve?

Inquiring about HH Nursing
Thank you! Great Information!!!

Reportable?
It is definitely reportable. It is not up to us to decide if it is abuse/neglect. All you can do is file an incident report documenting everything the pt reported and let the proper authorities decide where it goes from there.

Inquiring about HH Nursing
I'm thinking about applying for HH position in my area. I have never worked in HH, but the idea of being one-on-one with my patients is exciting. I may not have enough experience for the position. I have been an LPN for 3 years working with Intellectually Disabled individuals. I am looking for something more challenging and something that is more involved. How much training does a HH position provide? Do they just throw you in on your own? How do you get paid? Hourly, salarly, per visit? Do you get mileage paid? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone working in HH can give me pros or cons of why you work in this area, that would be great too.
