  1. oh phew- thank you so much n33nz for your reply- i was getting a little nervous there! good luck with this round of applications! thank you again!
  2. Hi n33nz and SDseahorse- did you guys already apply for Rady Children's 2014 New Grad program? I was under the impression on the website that applications weren't open yet- that they open this month- in order to start the new grad program this summer? Am I mistaken and have missed the app deadline? Thanks so much for any info you have on this!
  3. Hi everyone- is anyone looking at applying to the nurse residency program for 2014? The website says applications will open in Feb, and I have been keeping an eye since Feb 1st, but wanted to see if anyone out there knows any info about when the upcoming apps will open/if anyone else is interested!
  4. SMB13 I too am debating between Emory and Columbia... I would love to chat with you and ask you a few questions if you're up for it! I can't PM since I don't have enough posts but my email address is [email protected] if you get a second and could shoot me an email? Thank you and I look forward to talking to you! :)
  5. Also, is there a Facebook group out there for accepted students in our cohort? If not I will work on making one!
  6. Got my acceptance email yesterday... Their notification process sure is on Hawaiian time! Haha. I'm deciding between UH and 2 other schools so I'm not sure yet if I will attend UH, but moving back home to Hawaii from the mainland is sounding more and more appealing. Has anyone submitted the FAFSA to UH yet? I wasn't sure what to put for what our "grade level" will be when we enter- the other schools I sent the FAFSA to award a BSN after the first year so we were told to select "5th year/other undergraduate", but since a BSN is not awarded at UH I am not sure what to put. Congrats to everyone who got accepted! :)
  7. Lifeismuzik- yes I currently am in the same boat! I can't PM you since I don't have enough posts but if you want to email me at [email protected] I would love to chat and go through the process together!
  8. Meep05- they said last year's class was about 35 students I believe, and this year they accepted around 40. They did talk about the study abroad- you can go to Jamaica, the Bahamas, Haiti, the Dominican Republic (although most students who go here are fluent in Spanish), West Virginia, and then there are some who stay and do work in Atlanta (if you have a family or are not able to go abroad for some reason). The program is part of a class, is 2 weeks long, and you get credit for it. They said this experience, no matter where you go, is super neat and one of the best parts of the program. It also is completely paid for- one student said she had to buy some food while she was in the Bahamas but that was it. Does anyone remember what they said about getting your top choice of place to go? I can't remember if they said everyone usually gets their number one place or not. But either way it sounds like an amazing experience. I don't remember anyone saying anything about why they do not work as an RN during the NP portion- maybe someone else can chime in on this?As for financial aid, one student I talked to says that no one didn't choose to go there because they couldn't afford it. She said that everyone who needs financial aid got it, and Emory really works at helping you out. Which was very comforting to hear! Hopefully it will be the same with our class.Overall the Accepted Students Day really showed me how genuine the faculty is and how much they really want us to attend and succeed. Another thing that really stood out to me was how close last year's ABSN class was and how much they helped each other during the super intense parts of the program which I thought was cool. Everyone was so nice and knowledgable- it made me positive that choosing Emory would definitely not be a regrettable choice!
  9. Hey everyone! I also have been accepted to Columbia's ETP program for the FNP track. I am from Hawaii but currently live in Cali (like a lot of you do too I see!) and am headed to NY for the visiting day and can't wait to meet everyone! Count me in for drinks on Friday! :) I just joined the Facebook group so I will chat to you all on there about plans for the weekend!
  10. @kdiem- I cannot find any concrete info on the website either, but last year's program started in May... I found the 2012-13 academic calendar which says that this summer semester starts May 20th, and since the program starts in the summer, I am assuming this will be the starting date. Not sure either though, hopefully we will find out some definite info soon!
  11. Thanks lifeismuzik- when I sign into regular OPUS I don't see anything here either about an "Admitted Students' website". I may be looking in the complete wrong place, I'm obviously not very OPUS savvy haha. I'm using Safari web browser, maybe this is the problem. Have you been able to find a site that has more info about admitted students and/or the Admitted Students' Day?
  12. Finally got my letter in the mail! I have a quick question if anyone happens to know the answer... in the letter it says to view the Admitted Students' website by going to Emory | Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing | Homepage and clicking on the Admitted Students' icon and signing in with our OPUS information. For some reason I can't find the "Admitted Students' icon" on this page for the life of me- has anyone else been able to find it and sign in? Thanks so much!
  13. Hey everyone- I received an acceptance phone call today too from Emory- I could not be more stoked about it! Emory is definitely one of my top choices and I am so glad the hard work is finally paying off! So the accepted students day is Feb 8? I'm going to try really hard to make it, it'd be great to start meeting everyone! meep05- I agree, it's pretty nerve wracking how early the program starts, if I'm correct it starts in May? That is super soon!
  14. I just received an email from the admissions people saying they received my Fall 2012 transcript that I had sent over before UH's offices closed for the holidays... so that is reassuring that decisions have not all been made quite yet. Anyone else hear anything recently? Happy New Year!
  15. I too am waiting to hear from UH... I also received a phone call about 3 weeks ago asking some questions about my application. I am applying to the FNP track. I know that the admissions office closed on December 17th for the holidays and will reopen January 2nd, so I was under the impression that all decisions would have been made before the break. Especially since samdaman's admittance letter said that he needs to have the deposit in by January 4th if he decides to go there. Who knows, maybe they are still working on apps during their break? But the wait is definitely grueling
  16. Hi KoKe- I too just heard back from USM that I am on the waitlist. I am anxious to hear from others- especially students already in the program and those who were waitlisted and then ended up getting a spot. I too would like to hear some pros and cons! Did you apply to any other schools? Which specialty did you apply for? Nice to know someone out there is in my same boat! :)
