  1. thanx kelly That seems very interesting, and would like to learn more about your job. Was there any special training that you had to do prior? Like learning about the methadone program, how to recognize s/s of withdrawal, the different drugs and it effects, any special training or seminars? redred
  2. hello, I am a new nurse, and began working on a telemetry floor in July 2005. I also have a degree in psych, which is my passion. I wanted to get my Med-Surg exp. first b4 I go into psych nursing. I would like to know the what are duties of a Detox nurse and what I need to do to prepare myself if I should go into this specialty of nursing ( like books, training, and certifications, etc...). redred
  3. hi everyone- I recently began working as a new nurse on a Tele floor, 2 1/2 months ago. I have no clue what I am doing half the time. Thank God for my preceptor because I learning a lot from her, but I have no clue what I'm going to do when I'm on my own next month. I feel like I'm working as a servant instead of a nurse. some of these patient's think their in a hotel, which is absurd. A lot of theses patient's are self sufficient, but refuse to be a part od their rehabilitation. I know their is a lot responsibility in nursing, but school did not prepare me for this stuff. I hate bedside nursing I just wanted my med/surg exp. for a year. I will probably stay part-time after a year, but my first love is in psych which is what I have a degree in and I want to explore other avenues. I going to hang in there for this 1st year, but does anybody have other suggestions on what I can do? redred

  9. I would like everyone to know... I PASSED I was in total shock I thought for sure I failed. I want to thank grinnurse and andrea for the words of encouragement on Tuesday beacause I was so down on my luck. To all future test takers good luck and don't have the same negative attitude like I did, because you never know what's in store for you.
  10. Thanks for the words of encouragement grinnurse and andre, I'm really going to try and be postive. Maybe there is a chance I pass only time will tell. redred
  11. Hello everyone- I really haven't been writng on the message board because I have been wrecking my brain to study. I took the NCLEX today and my nerves were shot, I had to go the bathroom ten minutes into the test (and I'm not talking about going to do number 1). I had no math questions mostly prioritizing questions, which patient do you see first, lots of signs and symptoms and peds. I had the total number of questions 265. I already know that I failed I just need the boards to verify it for me. The test was not what I expected I thought I was going to see a lot of scenarios, but there were short sentences. I'm just going to take a long nap today, I really don't want to check the results. I'll just get back to the library and start studying again on Monday. I really want to keep a postive mind but its really hard. Good Luck to everyone who took NCLEX today and future test-takers.

  13. Thanks traviling lady for answering post. Well today my friend and I went to a different lawyer, one who has expunged cases for nursing students b/4... she told us that getting a license should not be a problem if the case is already expunged even if there is and issue of fingerprinting... me and my friend are still confused... Can anyone recommend a lawyer whose an RN in the New York, New Jersey or Conneticut area that can better answer this problem...Please ASAP.
