  1. Thank you so much for sharing your stories! I am a single mom with 3 kids (11, 8, & 3) and I am currently in my first semester of the nursing program. I do feel a bit weird being (probably) the only single parent in my class. So I am not sure how I am going to survive the rest of nursing school. Thankfully, I do not have to work for the 1st semester so I can concentrate on my schoolwork and kids but I will have to find some sort of job after my first semester. And I don't know how I am going to do it all. I look forward to reading to all the advices the single moms who have been through it and successfully juggled family, work, and school life.
  2. Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I know I'm going to be putting in some serious hours of studying and getting through my med. dose calc. Hopefully in 2 years, I'll look back at the entrance exam and be able to laugh at what I did wrong and go forward from there.
  3. Today I took the ATI Critical Thinking Entrance exam for my first semester of Nursing school and I totally bombed it. 65% really?! I thought I understood the majority of the questions and went with what I thought was the best answer. I understand that this is an indicator of where my strengths and weakness lies and how well I will do on those tests and might affect on how well I do in the program. This has really crushed my confidence in the test taking area. The last couple of years, I have been working towards to getting into the program. I'm in and then I took this test, so I'm doubting myself. What can I do to do well on all my tests and especially on the NCLEX in 2 years?
  4. Well, it's been awhile but I just thought I would update how I did for my summer course with Patho and Micro. Passed them with A's but it was very intense and some days I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. I definitely liked Microbiology a lot better than Patho.
  5. @ixchel - How did you do in your online patho class? I am planning on taking it in summer '13 and wonder if I can also pair it Micro. Think it's doable? I've been hearing how much harder online patho is (but not directed at Butler) and that I might do better in an in class one.
  6. I'm taking A&P next semester also. I've already downloaded some apps for the Human Anatomy on my phone so I can play around with that. I also bought myself flash cards and one of those anatomy coloring book to get a jump start on that class next semester. Best of luck to you!
  7. Hello all! I have been a long time reader and many of your suggestions have helped me in getting my classes in order so I can get into nursing school. I have a decent background in sciences and for the past year and a half, I have been taking at least 12-15 credit hours or so and have maintained a 4.0 GPA. These are the only classes I have left before transferring completely over to WSU (only if I get accepted into their Nursing Program). My question is that I have enrolled in my Spring courses: A&P (in class) & Stats (in class), Nutrition and Med. Terminology (both online). I am sure I can do it since I only work part-time but when I tell my fellow friends about my class load, they are freaking out more than me! Then I freak out. All my other classes I have done fine and I do well in class and online classes. Am i taking too much for my Spring classes? I know I will have no social life but that's ok. I really want to be able to get my pre-reqs and get into nursing school by Fall '13 or Spring '14. Then I am thinking about taking Microbiology (in class) and Pathophysiology (online) in the summer. Is that doable or am I just taking on more than I can chew? I just would like to be able to enroll into these classes so that when the time comes for enrollment I have a guaranteed seat and not having to wait the Fall semester. I am taking all these classes at Butler CC in Kansas if that helps. Any advice on surviving my courses and getting through them is appreciated!
