Nursing School & The Single Mom. A thread for support and encouragement.
Thank you so much for sharing your stories! I am a single mom with 3 kids (11, 8, & 3) and I am currently in my first semester of the nursing program. I do feel a bit weird being (probably) the only single parent in my class. So I am not sure how I am going to survive the rest of nursing school. Thankfully, I do not have to work for the 1st semester so I can concentrate on my schoolwork and kids but I will have to find some sort of job after my first semester. And I don't know how I am going to do it all. I look forward to reading to all the advices the single moms who have been through it and successfully juggled family, work, and school life.

ATI Critical Thinking Entrance Exam
Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I know I'm going to be putting in some serious hours of studying and getting through my med. dose calc. Hopefully in 2 years, I'll look back at the entrance exam and be able to laugh at what I did wrong and go forward from there.

ATI Critical Thinking Entrance Exam
Today I took the ATI Critical Thinking Entrance exam for my first semester of Nursing school and I totally bombed it. 65% really?! I thought I understood the majority of the questions and went with what I thought was the best answer. I understand that this is an indicator of where my strengths and weakness lies and how well I will do on those tests and might affect on how well I do in the program. This has really crushed my confidence in the test taking area. The last couple of years, I have been working towards to getting into the program. I'm in and then I took this test, so I'm doubting myself. What can I do to do well on all my tests and especially on the NCLEX in 2 years?

Spring '13 & Summer '13 Class load
Well, it's been awhile but I just thought I would update how I did for my summer course with Patho and Micro. Passed them with A's but it was very intense and some days I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. I definitely liked Microbiology a lot better than Patho.

pathophysiology summer 2012
@ixchel - How did you do in your online patho class? I am planning on taking it in summer '13 and wonder if I can also pair it Micro. Think it's doable? I've been hearing how much harder online patho is (but not directed at Butler) and that I might do better in an in class one.

Advanced prep for A&P and Micro
I'm taking A&P next semester also. I've already downloaded some apps for the Human Anatomy on my phone so I can play around with that. I also bought myself flash cards and one of those anatomy coloring book to get a jump start on that class next semester. Best of luck to you!

Spring '13 & Summer '13 Class load
Hello all! I have been a long time reader and many of your suggestions have helped me in getting my classes in order so I can get into nursing school. I have a decent background in sciences and for the past year and a half, I have been taking at least 12-15 credit hours or so and have maintained a 4.0 GPA. These are the only classes I have left before transferring completely over to WSU (only if I get accepted into their Nursing Program). My question is that I have enrolled in my Spring courses: A&P (in class) & Stats (in class), Nutrition and Med. Terminology (both online). I am sure I can do it since I only work part-time but when I tell my fellow friends about my class load, they are freaking out more than me! Then I freak out. All my other classes I have done fine and I do well in class and online classes. Am i taking too much for my Spring classes? I know I will have no social life but that's ok. I really want to be able to get my pre-reqs and get into nursing school by Fall '13 or Spring '14. Then I am thinking about taking Microbiology (in class) and Pathophysiology (online) in the summer. Is that doable or am I just taking on more than I can chew? I just would like to be able to enroll into these classes so that when the time comes for enrollment I have a guaranteed seat and not having to wait the Fall semester. I am taking all these classes at Butler CC in Kansas if that helps. Any advice on surviving my courses and getting through them is appreciated!
