USPHS SRCOSTEP
mocapoca, I just got accepted into the SRCOSTEP program for this current school year. I know the application process. I was hired by the BOP to be a NP but have no first hand experience with them yet. Only have knowledge from what others have told me who have worked there. Feel free to DM me.

Srcostep application process
lharvick, Last year the JRCOSTEP and SRCOSTEP applications opened around Sept/Oct and closed early December. You are going to have to just keep looking for updates on usphs.gov or their Facebook page to see when they are accepting applications again.

Srcostep application process
As far as I know I have been cleared for everything. But more than likely won't be called to active duty until Aug when my final school year begins.

Srcostep application process
I have found phschat.com to be helpful. Just explore the forums and you will find some stuff. Its not the most active forum but I have found it helpful. I am applying as a NP.

Srcostep application process
HM2nurse, I am in the same boat as you. As far as I know, I just have to do the board interview over the phone and wait to hear back about the background checks. I think at this point we are more "IN" than "OUT". Unless we bomb the phone interview or flat out lied on the e-quip we are in. Are you applying as a nurse or NP?

Nurse Practitioner Pay in Federal BOP
For those of you on this thread who are currently working for the BOP as a civilian NP can you please share anything about the similarities and differences in your role with those of Commission Corps NP's. I am applying the BOP to become an NP in the Corps and would just like your perspectives on the civilian vs officer dynamics. Some examples I am curious about would be work schedule, are both types of NPs treated equally in the BOP, do the civilian NPs want to become part of the Commissioned Corps or vice versa, how long do the CC officers typically stay at one prison before moving somewhere else? Thanks in advance.

Direct Entry MSN Programs 2013
@keats 717 Did you call Vandy's admission office or someone in the specialty you applied for office for an answer on your acceptance?
-
Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
For those who already received an acceptance letter, was it just a normal size envelope with one piece of paper congratulating you? Or was it a packet of information?

Vanderbilt Grad Entry 2013
@jb30 What was the postmarked date of your acceptance letter?

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
@vandy hopeful Based on the schedule of interview dates and times they sent me. The last day for FNP interviews was on Valentine's Day.

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
I never got the email on Friday. But I also never got the email from admissions confirming my application was complete and ready for review back in December like everyone else.

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
For those applying to FNP, what exactly did the email say? And based on the traffic in the forums you recieved the email today, on Friday?
-
Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
@ vandy hopeful My interviewer actually told me about this particular clinical site and asked if it interested me. I hope that's a good sign!
-
Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
I asked if I would receive a decision via email, and she responded that I would get my decision via snail mail.

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013
I had my FNP interview today as well. I thought it went really well and I am anxiously awaiting a decision. I was told of a potential clinical site that Vandy partners with that lines up perfectly with my long term goals. I was told to expect a letter in the mail in the next few weeks. Now whenever I go to the mailbox I am going to have butterflies in my stomach!

Sarah, maybe u will get a decision while you're on campus. Couldn't hurt to ask while you're there.
