  1. Yes, I was thinking about that too. This nurse doesn't really have any family and lives alone. Her job is her life and she is looked at like royalty by management. And thank you for your positive vibes.
  2. Thank you for your kind words. I am coming to grips that the hospital culture has gotten worse. It was great that I had a Neuro Residency Program for 6 months before I was in Neuro ICU by myself. Back then older nurses were actually nice and not bullies. I wish there were more residency programs for experienced nurses to get back to bedside. Not for me, but for any other experienced nurse who wants to go back to the hospital.
  3. Thank you for your reply. I think I realized that I don't like bedside nursing. I was able to get my full time position back at the clinic. My husband even understands that my mental health is better than money. Hope all goes well for you.
  4. So I took the leap 2 months ago and left my clinic position for the hospital. A little background about myself I have been a nurse for 15 years. I worked as a Float nurse, Med/Surge, Tele, ICU, and Outpatient PACU, and Clinic nurse.. It has been 5 years since I have done bedside, so I had a lot of trouble remembering things. I only had 1 month of training in the Ambulatory Surgical Center and 1 month of training in PACU. So yesterday I was told I am not progressing and I have 1 week. I said I didn't want to waste their time. And my manager told me HR said for me to resign. Today I did that and asked HR if I could be transferred to another unit. My thoughts are why are preceptor nice to your face, but not behind your back. Also, why did they not tell me how I can improve? And why are older nurses who have been nurses for 35 years always so snippy and crotchety? Can u be transferred to another unit? One more question: do you think I should have stayed in the clinic? I mean I was happier.
  5. Thank you for your response. I think I am going to give 2 weeks. They are not a big corporation/company. It's sad because I am starting to get to know the people even though it's been 9 days. I feel like such a bad person. But my husband keeps telling me it will be all right. I am also in Hawaii which is harder at times because people know each other.
  6. I just wanted feedback from other nurses in the same situation. Thanks for your reply.
  7. You are entitled to your opinion. But right now my husband isn't working and I am the only one getting income. I have bad feelings about waiting, but I also have to worry about both my son and husband. We just moved to a new place and still need to get acclimated to our surroundings.
  8. Yes, that is exactly what my husband said. So I would be given my notice the week before Labor Day.
  9. He said at least it is income. Also, he isn't currently working and basically is depending on me for income.
  10. I just started a position at a Community Clinic and have been there for 4 days. Yesterday, I was offered a Med/Surge Tele position and Ambulatory Care Services/ PACU Position. Both positions have the same rate and is double what I am making now and has better benefits. Also, the nurses are part of a union and may get a raise in rate. I am leaning towards the Ambulatory Care Services/PACU RN position. The thing is my husband wants me to continue working at the clinic until I start at the hospital September 9th. Do you think it's wrong to wait 3 weeks to a month to tell my current job that I am leaving or should I tell them now meaning tomorrow? Thank you in advance for your feedback.
  11. Thank you. I feel the same way.
  12. Hello everyone. I am asking advice on my current situation. I am a nurse care coordinator at a primary care physician's office and have been there for 2 years now. The volume is higher than any other office in the medical group. My boss is also mean, condescending and two faced. I have tried to resign once before, but was persuaded to stay. She gave me false promises and never followed through on her word. Now, I have another job offer that I accepted. It would be for another doctor's office. Not that high of a volume. It's a well known company with lots of growth. The benefits are great, there is tuition reimbursement, more vacation days and I would be wearing scrubs. I would be taking a pay cut, but it would definitely pan out in the end. I even negotiated my hours. There isn't any remote work and I may be furloughed if a second wave hits. My current boss asked me to stay. She said she would try to reorganize the workflow of care coordination. So I made a pro and cons list twice and I am leaning towards the new job. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any feedback? Or has anyone ever been in the same situation?

  14. No, I have no health contraindications and I am a little concerned about being exposed.
  15. I work in a non clinical nursing position as a nurse care coordinator. I have been having the urge to go back to the bedside to help COVID-19 patients. My husband is a PT at a hospital and deals with COVID-19 patients and death on a regular basis. He is really mentally and physically worn out. He is trying to keep it together. I try to console him, but he always says "you have no idea what it is like." I do not know the extent of what my husband and other frontliners go through. I do have the opportunity to go back and help at 2 hospitals. So I guess I need advice. If you were me would you go back to bedside or stay put at a non clinical nursing position? Thank you in advance for your responses.
  16. I do enjoy what I do. At times, it can get a little frustrating like most jobs. I usually follow patients when they are admitted and discharged from hospitals and sub acute rehabs. I also have to follow up on patients 3 times after discharge. Also, I have to follow up on high risk patients. The administrative part of data entry on a spreadsheet and pulling records is definitely something I can do without. I really enjoy talking to patients. My job also entails helping patients find a therapist or psychiatrist. I also educate medical assistants every month with a lunch and learn. These are all of the good things that I enjoy about my current job. I do not like that I have to come in earlier than usual on a regular basis and leave late. I also don't enjoy the fact that I have a larger volume compared to other offices and it is hard to do work. Most of all I don't enjoy that my boss has two sides and her bad side is not something I can tolerate. It is also hard working at my current position because if you act a certain way and someone doesn't like it you will get in trouble. So I think I made my decision and I think I will take the other position. Thank you for your response. I think I will. Thank you. Thank you for your feedback. I think I will take that position.
  17. I am currently a nurse care coordinator at a primary care physician's office. My hours are 7:45am-4:15pm Monday through Friday. No weekends or holidays. I have been there for over a year. My workload is often heavy at times. On top of that, my director is very hard to work with as well I decided to explore other opportunities. 2 days ago I went on an interview for a similar position. Yesterday, that office offered me the position with more pay. And the hours are flexible I just have to work a 40 hour week. So my question is should I leave my current position? Thank you all for your help. I appreciate it.
  18. My old job is offering $45/hour and the new job $40/hr.
  19. I was leaning more towards the new job too. Thank you for your help.
  20. I have been working for a surgical center as a Preop/PACU RN since November. I loved my schedule Tuesday through Thursday 6am to 6pm. No weekends or holidays. It was my first time working in a surgical center and everyone was nice to me in the beginning. After, being there for a few months I come to find out that a certain doctor is leaving and will be opening his own surgical center across the street. The company found out and we had a staff meeting. Basically, the company said they had to cut hours even if you are full time and that you should leave when all cases are done. The DON also mentioned that 8 hours a day would be the max to work and she also said she was resigning. (So she could help get across the street set up). I decided to look for a new job because of all this happening and because I have a son that I have to support. Well, I got a job offer at another Surgical Center. They matched my rate, guaranteed me full time hours, got my vacation weeks, and I may learn how to circulate as an OR nurse. I start June 1st, but orient Tuesday. My old job I gave my resignation and now they are offering me more money to stay and help rebuild that place. So here is the dilema: Should I go back to my old job even though everyone is leaving to go work for that doctor and I would have to work with a certain nurse that I did not like again (The plus side is more money) OR should I start the new job which is more stable and I could learn more? I have been a nurse for almost 9 years. I have worked as a float nurse, Tele nurse, progressive care nurse, ICU nurse, and now ambulatory care.
