  1. you need to get a new job. you need to have time for yourself or you will go nutzo.
  2. without a doubt, go with the bachelors. more education is more opportunity.
  3. i think it depends on your interests. if you are more investigative you might want to consider becoming a medical scientist (microbiologist, epidemiologist) or pharmacist. if you are more of a socialist type, you might want to consider becoming a therapist. i think nursing can be a good combination of the two. seek some career counseling if you are not sure before becoming committed to a program. might help guide your decision.
  4. :Melody: Don't scab for the bosses! Don't listen to their lies! Us poor folks don't got a chance unless we ORGANIZE!! :Melody:
  5. my advice: dont work at a place where the assignments are more than 1:2 (1:3 is crazy!) as a new grad, ensure that you have a lengthy orientation period with a good preceptor. the bath, usually, is the least of your worries in the ICU.
  6. i was wondering if anybody knew of any nursing research done about nursing and mental illness. i can relate. how do you guyz cope with the long hours, day-night rotations, and the high stress of the job? do you have any advice? how does one not burnout under such working conditions and trying to cope with MI? a nurse's work is so crazy these days...how can a nurse not go crazy?
  7. this is my opinion. if she is a junior, i think she should finish her BS in the course she is persuing. at a lot of colleges, it is really difficult undergo an intercollege transfer into a nursing program. the general degree will give her more flexibility if she decides that nursing is not the right career for her. then go for a the RN diploma. nursing is a hardcore program. tell her to ask the other nursing students about their experiences at in the nursing program. i also reccommend "shadowing" a nurse in a hospital if that is possible. she should make an appointment with an academic advisor from the college of nursing and see if they can offer any advice on a plan of action.
  8. (watch, this is gonna make people mad) on a political level, BSN education is more important for nursing to evolve professionally. all the others are doing it. pharmacy went from bachelors to pharmd. pt is going from masters to the doctorate level. socialworkers are masters prepared. we are lagging behind! by this, i am not saying bsn nurse is any better on the floor than the adn.
  9. rubella is droplet. tb is airborne.
