  1. Hey Andrew, Can you tell me more about the Hofstra program as a student. There is nothing/no reviews on this site. How is the program so far? The program states it is a 3 year part-time program, but also states it requires 850 clinical hours! That's a lot more than other programs and makes me think the program would take much longer than 3 years, so I was wondering how Hofstra reconciles that. Thanks for any info!
  2. Has anyone received any information on class schedule, registration, uniforms, etc? I have received a packet requesting my health info (physical, vaccine record, etc) and a form from IT, but nothing else. Orientation starts August 22nd (aah so soon!!) so I'm hoping we receive more info soon. If anyone has anymore info such as what classes we'll be taking, schedule, or anything like that please share. Thanks!
  3. Woo hoo! I got a call on Friday that I have been accepted off the waiting list! Yay! Also just finished up my prereqs. The journey to get to nursing school has been long and anxiety-ridden, but well worth it! I'm excited to relax throughout the summer and see you all in August. I will be driving from the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area if anyone is interested in carpooling. Aaah so excited!
  4. I would really really recommend choosing a few schools you are interested in attending first and then shaping your prereqs around then. I know that is probably hard to do but even a preliminary 3-4 schools where you MAYBE would end up can help you focus. In my experience schools really prefer you do your science classes with lab in a classroom. So opt for nutrition or developmental psychology online. Almost all schools do want Microbiology, A&P 1 & 2, AND Chemistry so contact some schools and see what they are okay with online. Unfortunately each school wants something different so that is why it is better to focus on a few actual schools you may attend. Good luck!
  5. Sooo this thread has kinda died, but I and all those other future Wagner students would LOVE to hear from someone currently in the program or recently out about the classes, work load, schedule (how much time in class/clinics), ability to find jobs post program, etc. Any advice, suggestions, or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  6. I got an interview in mid April after applying at the deadline (was that Feb 15th or March 15th?). I got accepted about a week later. Good luck!
  7. Just got accepted on Friday. Anyone else out there going? This thread is very small, but hope to hear from more of you future-Wagners!
  8. Soo I had my interview at Wagner and I think it went really well. Some of the questions were typical (why are you now interested in nursing) while others were a bit more challenging and thoughtful. The dean was very nice, knowledgeable, and seemed like she had actually looked through my resume/materials. I took the ferry to SI and had an easy time finding the Wagner shuttle and getting picked up and dropped off. Good luck everyone!
  9. Anyone have their interview yet and want to comment? How did it go?
  10. To all the already accepted students - congrats! Can you please let us know on this thread by what date do you need to inform Concordia of your decision? That way those on the wait list can have a better time frame. Thank you so much!!
  11. Me too. It's been brutal to wait so long (applied in November!). I emailed the Dean yesterday who was sweet as always but unable to give any information. I'm not sure why.
  12. I was also contacted for interview. I was told I could take the TEAS after the interview, August by the latest.
  13. Hey for everyone who still hasn't heard. I just emailed admissions and he responded:files have been given back to me and we will be sending decisions out the end of this week and next week. So if you haven't heard yet don't despair!
  14. Sooo I interviewed on March 5th and have still not heard back. So happy to hear that the majority of people who interviewed in March/late February have not heard back yet either. Jeez it is torturing me, especially because I thought I would hear back in about 2 weeks which was the case with the earlier interviewees and class of 2012! A good lesson in patience though. I thought the interview went very well and I'm very hopeful. I really hope to hear back soon! Good luck everyone.
  15. Hey everyone! Glad to see this thread is thriving since I started it in November. I interviewed on March 11th and now I'm anxiously awaiting the news and stalking my mailbox too! I feel very positive and I hope I hear some good news soon. Hope to talk to you (and see you) all soon!
  16. Just got my email today regarding an interview in early March. I also hope they're not leaving the worst for last! Good luck to everyone.
  17. Hi All, Anyone heard back yet regarding an interview and writing sample? I'm starting to get nervous that I haven't heard back yet. If you have heard back let me know and congrats!
  18. Hi RachPapp, Thanks so much. I'm sure many of us are kinda freaking out right now as we wait to hear back about interviews and send out applications. How is Concordia going for you? Do you feel you are getting a quality nursing education and what will your clinical training be like? When do you do the clinical training? I'm sure I have more questions, but just basic info on how you feel the quality of the program is and how it's preparing you for your future nursing career would be appreciated. Thanks!!
  19. Seong69: I haven't heard anything yet regarding the interview or writing sample. I would check out the 2012 thread.
  20. Hey, For whoever has applied already, anyone heard back yet regarding interview scheduling? I thought some of the interviews would be in January, so I'm curious if anyone has heard anything yet! Good luck!
  21. So far no. Concordia is my first choice and what makes the most sense for me location, tuition, prerequisite requirement wise. I hope to hear back soon. Do you have all your prereqs done? I'm still finishing up mine.
  22. Hi All, I just sent off my application for Accelerated Nursing program at Concordia College for the fall of 2013. I'm really excited and nervous. I saw the thread for the fall 2012 was quite active and a few would-be 2013 students had posted to that one so I thought I should start a new one. Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from any posters on the 2012 thread about how their experience has been going, anyone who is finished with the program, and anyone who is applying like me! Thanks!!
