so expensive :(I'm slowly, but surely, paying off all the debt acquired during nursing school. the nursing bag comes with supplies needed for lab so it's a must!

You can get the scrubs from anywhere, you just need to get it embroidered. Not sure how much that runs for. Personally, I just bought the tops from the book store and pants elsewhere. p.s. don't bother buying a labcoat

you'll want to pick all your classes from the same sequence (and of course semester). don't be surprised if they drop all your classes the day of orientation and make you choose again.

By the way, about Jackson Plaza and Jackson North (don't know if anyone has answered), you'll be doing the first half of the semester at Jackson Plaza (an ALF right behind medical campus) & the second half of the semester at Jackson North (the hospital).

How I passed with 75 questions (KAPLAN)
So I took the NCLEX-RN this past Monday (7/7) and finished in less than an hour with 75 questions. I did the PVT as soon as I sat in my car (and 7 more times throughout the day) and got the good pop-up. I received my license number 24 hours later! RN official!! quick background: graduated with an ASN this past May, was an LPN but went straight back to school after getting my PN license and never worked as one. I didn't really get into hardcore study mode until the last week of May. I ONLY utilized Kaplan. I did use the NCLEX study guide that is circulating around here (and it REALLY helped me remember a few things come test day). I attended a 4 day Kaplan review class in March. Our school sprung Kaplan on us suddenly and for some reason thought it was ok to take the review class more than a month before graduating? how I studied: -watched ALL Kaplan content videos -read the Kaplan content review guide cover to cover once -did all Qbank questions & remediated all right/wrong answers -did all Qtrainers & remediated the same -the 4 sample tests & remediated the same -did my "incorrect only" questions from qbank (around 420) & kept remediating day before the exam: -read all my little notes from remediating -read the NCLEX study guide from this site a few times morning of the exam: -made sure I knew all my lab values, drug ranges, ABG's, little annoying things, etc. Here were my Kaplan scores for reference: Diagnostic - 59.4% Readiness - 71.1% Predictor - 82.7% Qbank cumulative performance - 60.0% QT1- 65.3% QT2- 54.7% QT3- 56.0% QT4- 64.0% QT5- 75.3% QT6- 76.5% QT7- 77.7% SAMPLE TEST 1- 60.0% SAMPLE TEST 2- 68.0% SAMPLE TEST 3 (PRIORITIES) - 90.0% SAMPLE TEST 4 (ALTERNATE FORMAT) - 44.0% I just want to wish GOOD LUCK to anyone taking the exam soon. Study HARD! I put in 5-8h/day, and 12+h towards the last 2 weeks. Try to relax during the exam and if you're anything like me...TRY to take your time and not rush through it like I did.

How I passed NCLEX-RN 2014
So I know you've been an RN for a few months already, but congrats! Your post is encouraging since I am taking the same route as you as far as studying with Kaplan goes. I'm doing horrible on QB's but better on QT's. My test in on July 7 so it's really time to buckle down, wish me luck!

I did it at the school, they have a small clinic.

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
Cdeta002, in my case nursing classes were easier, but maybe because I found it interesting in comparison to a&p, chem, micro. Anything you learn in clinical is great to remember for real life experience but throw it away for the test, because usually how you saw it in clinical was done "wrong". Exams consist mainly of critical thinking, which a lot of people aren't used to.

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
Nurse joy, be prepared for looooong days of studying, I would spend around 4 hours a day studying, max 8-9 closer to exam day. (Pretty sure I spent 12 hours at Starbucks a couple times). For clinicals you need to do care plans, that lovely packet would take me average 5 hours. I had a few classmates who were able to work full time, they passed but were always struggling. I worked very part time, so was able to dedicate most of my time to studying.

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
ok just making sure, was wondering if they were still accepting TEAS. my leadership professor was telling me back in April that for this fall it's going to be easier for people to get in because they had a significantly lower amount of applicants (She was guessing people were scared to take the new entrance exam) I hope all of you get in! :)

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
jucris88- I started in Spring 2013 (just graduated May 2014) so my acceptance letters were in October. nursejoy22 - ehh somewhat, haven't personally gotten that far yet. I'm in the middle of studying for boards, but MDC does hold job fairs every so often. Tip, NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK during clinicals, these could be potential employers :) cdeta002 - lectures you need 77 to pass. clinicals & skill labs are pass/fail.

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
My TEAS was in the high 70's & I cant remember my Sceince GPA, but I remember my total score was 77. (By the way, I had advisors tell me not to get my hopes up, that I probably wouldn't get in). But I did!, did amazing in the program, and definitely went back to that same advisor at graduation time to show her my grades lol Question, you guys waiting to get in for fall are going based off the NLN right?

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
no problem. I was in Full-Time Generic. first semester was Monday-Thursday for me; fridays off. Clinicals is only 1 day (7-3), a fundies lecture once a week, adult health assesment lecture, fundies skills lab, & Pharmacology math class (which is once a week, but doesnt last the whole semester). It seems like a lot of classes, but the first semester will be the easiest :)

RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college
hey everyone. So I just graduated from MDC's generic program last month & just here checking to see when my bf should be expecting his letter. HEADS UP. the frustration doesn't end here. Be prepared for issues when registering for other semesters (you register for your first semester @ orientation), last minute clinical site changes. etc. Nothing too bad, but unneeded stress during a STRESSFUL PROGRAM. Good luck!!
