  1. I am not sure what your requirements are for taking the NCLEX but I just wanted to say that Excelsiors program is a joke! My mother, an LPN for 30 years, just passed the online classes and went to take her clinicals. Unfortunately, she was failed out of the clinical after the first day for something extremely ridiculous! She had heard horror stories about the clinical and was very nervous going into it! It is amazing to me that a program can take someone with 30 years of hands on experience and fail them after 1 day! It is even more ridiculous that you would even be subjected to this so called clinical! If you are able to pass the classes and you have the experience license behind you already, I believe you should be able to take the NCLEX w/o going through these stupid clinicals!!!! I am currently in my final semester of nursing, RN degree, and I can't imagine having to take such a clinical. I hate that you have already signed a contract with them! I certainly hope that you have a better experience than my mother, and others that have previously been through this! I would suggest that you ask all previous students of any online degree programs for their advice as to how to go about passing their clinical test! I know for a fact that my mother wasn't the first person to fail and won't be the last. I wish you luck and please let me know the outcome of your experience! :angryfire Signed, VERY DISGUSTED WITH EXCELSIOR!!!!
  2. I agree! I have not gone through this program myself but my mother has! The clinical is a Joke! My mother has been a Nurse for 30 years and just wanted to advance her degree. Unfortunately, she fell for the hype of Excelsior's program! She did wonderfully with the classes and was very excited, yet nervous, about going to the clinical. Just this weekend, she failed the clinical. First, I think that it is an insult to all experienced nurses, that they be required to prove their knowledge by going through these clinicals! If an experienced nurse is able to pass their classes with amazing grades and can prove that they have the experience behind them, then I think that they should be able to take the NCLEX w/o this clinical. Excelsior may be a fine college but as far as their online program goes, they stink! Any program that can fail an experienced nurse is a joke in my eyes! I would advice anyone that is looking into going through an online program, be very cautious!!! Do as much research into the clinical as you can! Search all nurse based chat rooms for feedback on this! I know for a fact that my mother wasn't the first to be disappointed by Excelsior, and she won't be the last! :angryfire Signed, Very disgusted with Excelsior!
  3. I am replying to this email because my mother just went through Excelsiors online LPN to RN degree program. I would advice that you not fall for their hype! My mother has been an LPN for over thirty years and is one of the finest nurses that I have ever seen, (I don't just say this b/c she is my mother)! She recently finished Excelsior's online classes with ease but did not make it through the clinicals! How a program can fail someone with 30 years of experience is beyond me! I consider it an insult that she would even be submitted to having to prove her knowledge of nursing by going through their HEdouble hockey sticks Clinical. What I am really trying to say is, don't fall for their promises! Use your money and time wisely and go back to a degree program that actually tries to pass their students! PLEASE, whatever you do, find out more about this program before you sign up! I know for a fact that they have a lot of dissatisfied students! Believe me, she isn't the first, or the last, that this program has cheated out of their degree! :angryfire Signed, Very angry about Excelsior!
