  1. I am thinking of applying at Nemours Orlando as a per diem RN. Does anyone know how much they offer per hour for a day shift position? How is the working environment at Nemours?
  2. Most clinicals run for 12 hours. Mine starts at 6:45am-6:45pm so I leave my house at 6:00am. The time you wake up depends on the proximity of your clinical site to your house and how long you get ready in the morning.
  3. There is currenly no waitlist at Valencia so most students who apply usually start within a semester or two after applying. I am about to graduate from the program and I just want to warn anyone who wants to study Nursing at Valencia...... its easy to get in but really tough to stay! They "weed out" students in the first and second semesters. Im sure this not only happens at Valencia though! Best of luck to you!
  4. The Hesi is considered the final exam every semester except for Nursing 3 where there is a Hesi and a cumulative final exam!
  5. It would probably be just like other terms but they could change it a bit. Lecture on Mon and Wed 9:00am-12:30pm and lab on Tues and Thurs 9:00am-4:00pm. Just a heads up; taking any Nursing course at Valencia in the Summer is gonna be intense! Hope this helps.
  6. Honestly, we just got fed up with the snow!!! Just want to give you a heads up....it was much easier finding a job in FL years ago so you might want to do alot of research on that part or at least have a solid job offer before you even decide to pack up. You will have a bit of an edge though since you have work experience. Good luck!
  7. My husband is a nurse and we moved to Central Florida 8 years ago from NJ. His initial pay cut was almost $10 per hour! We had to make major adjustments at first but it was fine with us though coz the standard of living in FL is much lower than in NJ. Thank goodness we didnt buy a house in NJ before moving to FL. We have no regrets....FL is an awesome place to live in and its great for our children too!
  8. I have both Classic and Lightweight. I honestly dont hear much difference on the sounds I auscultate (they're both great)! I prefer using the Lightweight though coz its much lighter on my neck/chest area.
  9. They allow students to use a simple calculator all the time (thank goodness)! You need to get 92% or higher per exam to get your points and students MUST pass the final exam to pass the course! Its not bad though! Good luck!
  10. Dimensional Analysis is so much differerent from Algebra! I never did well on Algebra, but I always got A's in dosages! Don't let Math be one reason to stop you from becoming a nurse! Good luck!
  11. You will definitely need Kozier & Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing as well as the Mental Health and Pharmacology books. I strongly suggest you also purchase Fundamentals Success since it will help you answer critical thinking nursing questions. Dosages is mostly self-study....they teach it to you once or twice and that's it!
  12. I'm currently in the program and its very challenging but doable. Make sure to study/read assigned chapters everyday and brush up on your dosages! Make use of the lab tutors for help specially for check off skills (they're awesome)! Take Fundamentals very seriously coz that's where most students resequence! Good luck everyone!

  14. Check out Orlando Tech. They have an LPN program for both day and night.
  15. I finally got my books today! The dosages book has been revised so I'm gonna have to sell the version I bought a few months ago.
