Muhlenberg school of Nursing - Spring 2013
I'm using my phone to type this so bare with me. If I got into this program I'm pretty sure anyone, who's determined and works hard for it, can get in. I didn't take any college courses before applying to Muhlenberg. I was a senior straight out of High School with a 3.5 GPA. The last science class I took was in 10th grade which meant I had to basically teach myself A&P in a matter of a week in order to take the TEAS exam and make the deadline for spring 2013 semester. I also had to brush up on chemistry. (I didn't have to brush up on math since it comes easy to me and I never had difficulties with it) My TEAS scores weren't great, considering I never took A&P and only had a week to study. (I used the Princeton Review) I actually think I did horrible and wasn't expecting to get in but I did. Adjusted Individual Total Score: 73.3% Mean - National: 64.3% Mean - Program: 64.9% Reading: Individual - 76.2% National - 70.5% Program - 71.2% Mathematics: Individual - 86.7% National - 69% Program - 69.8% Science: Individual - 54.2% National - 53.6% Program - 54.3% English and Language usage: Individual - 83.3% National - 63.8% Program - 64.3% I hope this helps! Feel free to message me with any questions!

TEAS Test Scores
Adjusted Individual Total Score: 73.3% ATI AcademicPreparedness Level:Proficient Mean - National: 64.3% Mean - Program: 64.9% Percentile Rank - National: 74 Percentile Rank - Program: 75 Reading: 76.2% Math: 86.7% Science: 54.2% English/Writing: 83.3% My scores aren't great, considering I only had 5 days to study for the test, but luckily I got accepted into my nursing program. It all depends on what school you plan on going to, they all have different requirements. I think that I got accepted, aside from my TEAS V scores, based on the fact the I had great letters of recommendations, over 600+ volunteer hours, male, bi-lingual, and of Hispanic and African American decent. I hope you get accepted!!!!

Taking A&P in Spring 2013....HELP?
Thanks everyone. I've contacted my professors to see if they could provide me with the syllabus in advance but they have yet to reply. It is a bit early I would assume but hopefully they send it to me as soon as they have it available. Does anyone know if CliffNotes is any good? I just ordered the A&P book from them.

Taking A&P in Spring 2013....HELP?
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check to see if my schools has added the list of required books and, if they have, I will order them ASAP and get a head start on A&P before I actually start the class.

Taking A&P in Spring 2013....HELP?
Hey everyone, I'm taking A&P 1 next semester and was wondering if there's anything I can do now to help prepare myself? Should I expand my medical terminology knowledge (prefixes/root words/suffixes) and better familiarize myself with the different body systems? I know basic information, as I had to teach myself A&P for the TEAS exam. (The nursing school I got accepted to let's me take A&P as a co-req with Intro to Nursing Concepts and Pharmacology) Any books you recommend to help "dumb down" A&P for me?

Refusing to dissect in A&P or Microbiology?
I want to thank everyone for responding and sharing your thoughts and opinions with me. From my understanding some of you had to dissect animals in your anatomy class, while others did not. Hopefully my class doesn't dissect, but if we do I'll volunteer to take notes. If I MUST dissect, I'll pull through it and do it. I'll feel HORRIBLE afterwards but it has to be done if I hope to pass with a good grade and possibly become a nurse. Thank you all!

Refusing to dissect in A&P or Microbiology?
So let me get this right. Not doing something I feel strongly against makes me a child? And it's not that I don't think I can do it, it's that I rather not. If I have to do it I will but if I can get "special treatment" and not do it, then I rather not dissect.

Refusing to dissect in A&P or Microbiology?
I was just wondering if anyone has ever refused to dissect an animal for either their A&P or Microbiology class? I'm taking A&P next semester and I'm hoping I won't have to dissect an animal. It's not that I'm afraid; it just goes against what I believe. (Growing up loving all animals, being vegetarian, and knowing how many of the animals end up on tables for dissection). Can anyone relate? If I come across this situation, how can I go about it? How do I ask the teacher if I can opt out?

TEAS Exam Advice
I agree completely! Don't make the same mistake I did and only study a few days before the exam. Don't get me wrong, I scored high enough to get into my nursing program but I could of done a lot better if I started to study ahead of time. Get a good nights rest and have a nice meal before the test. Make sure you read the questions carefully, and if you have trouble with a question it's best to do the process of elimination. Don't rush through the test, take your time but keep an eye on the time clock. Lastly, good luck to anyone taking the exam! P.S. I used "The Princeton Review: Cracking the Nursing School Entrance Exam 2012" to study and recommend it! (I also never took A&P before taking the exam and this book helped me with that subject)

Anyone seen any all-white shoes?
Can someone help me? My nursing school is requiring me to get white shoes. Clogs and sneakers are not allowed. I'm having difficulty since all I seem to find are white cogs and white sneakers. Help???? P.S. Do these meet the qualifications? I'm getting conflicted responses from my mother and sister.... Dickies Mexam Men's Nursing Shoes White Size 8W Free Shipping | eBay
