Hawaii Contract
I have worked several travel contracts and with everyone of them I floated to different units. I have been a float since I became a nurse and that is one of the skills DON's look for when interviewing. I am currently about to finish a 13 week assignment here in Maui, HI and I was a float. I floated to different units, not facilities though. Its a great experience.

Down and Defeated LPN
I live in NC as well. Nursing homes are hiring lpns but some hospitals are too. Have you looked into homfe health? I'm a recent grad and I work in a nursinghome and home health. I often see hospital postings for lpns. With you criminal background you have to be sure to include that on the application. Alot of ppl with dwis and criminal histories have gotten jobs in the nursing field. dont give up you've worked too hard!!

what to discuss in a CNA huddle as new lpn charge nurse?
Your absolutely right. if the aides dont do their job the nurses are pretty much responsible. so i want to approach the situation assertively. ALL the nurses at the facility are charge nurses. RN and LPNs. But I seem to be the only 1 that cares on my shift on my unit. I just want to be organized. Vitals, weights, showers etc etc need to be done when due. my shift has the worst track record and this has been noted before I even started. My license is on the line... Thanks KRODD

what to discuss in a CNA huddle as new lpn charge nurse?
Im a recent new grad working at a LTC facility and the nurses dont huddle with the cnas at the beginning of the shift. To me it feels as if we have to hunt down the cnas for vitals, weights, diaper change etc. Its beginning to **** me off. Ive heard several cnas complain of not having huddles, so I would like to take the initiative. I have never been in a supervisory position and I'm new to the facility so I dont know what to or how to discuss different topics. I hope I am making sense. Can someone give advice?

Ok, so I got my first job after searching for a month. I actually still cant believe how easy it was. Its a partime job, $21/hour, 3rd shift. I get two weeks training, 5 days in the class n the other 5 on the floor. After the training im on my own. It will be me and 4 CNA's. Do any of you seasoned nurses have any advice for me?? I know all nurses have to be nervous when they are new on the floor.
