you can all the division of aging and report this without revealing your idenity. they wil come in and do an investigation. is this home owned by a corporation? if so, you might inform someone at the corporate office. did you sign the document? there are many avenues to take here. your friend should document everything that happened and everyone involved for her own records.

The attorneys group that I spoke with are not nurse-attorneys, it's a private firm. However they do a lot of cases like mine. In fact one of them used to work for the state board here in missouri. I thought I would go for the consultation and see what they could do, the cost, their sucess rate. Does your state have a peer assistance?

The order pretty much went down without much feedback from me. At the time I was @ the lowest and just decided to stick my head in the sand. Now that I actually have some spunk back in my spirit, I would like to have some restrictions lifted. I have applies for at least 10 jobs for which I am qualified and been rejected.Exnursie, my quaterly evals, are basically a thearpist eval. of me in my recovery. All this rejection really hurts, it just seems that this profession isn't very forgiving. I contacted an attorney today who used to work for the state board here in missouri. I thought a consultation wouldn't hurt.

I didn't mean to sound angry in my post, but I do feel like we have to stand up for ourselves. In my state(mo.), there are no peer assistance groups for recovering nurses. My agreement states that I cant carry narc keys(Fine), cant administer narcs(fine),cant work eve/nocs. I also cant utilize a pixus if there are narcs in them. I also submit drug screens, and have chemical addiction evals done every 4 months. During the majority of my using, I wasn't working and didn't divert meds. I feel like all the restrictions are preventing me from gaining employment. I am fine with not carrying narc keys. All of these restrictions are in place for 5 yrs. I am going to trry to approach the board first to see if they can lighten the restrictions or shorten the probation. If that fails, I dont see why I shouldnt get a lawyer. Thanks!!

I related to all of your post, my license is on probation for 5 yrs. for a pain pill addiction that I self reported. I am having a hard time getting a job, I have been clean for 14 months and am a good nurse. I felt so shameful of my addiction that I just aggreed with whatever limits the board was willing to give me. I now plan to get an attorney and fight to at least lift some of the limits. I feel that the state board should not have the right to discipline any license due to unpaid taxes. I would strongly encourage anyone with issues with their state board to hire an attorney. They can only abuse their power if we allow them too.

Hi Everyone. Please be open-minded as you read this. I am a RN. I was addicted to pain pills. I self reported to State Board and my license is on probation. I have been "clean" for over 14 months. I am trying to get a job, but it has been hard because of the restrictions on my license. I am even applying for PCT posistions. I am honest with all potential employers. I feel a lot of shame and remorse for my addiction, but I do feel that we all deserve second chances. Any advice? I have also told potential employers that they can feel free to drug test me anytime.
