  1. If you like your Nurse Manager or Supervisor and your peers, and if you are a unit that works as a team (few and far between) then yes I have worked many an off day. But if you do not get respect as a professional, yes, don't answer the phone. Unfortunately, I have been on the management side of Nursing too, and if if you respect your staff and treat them the way they should be treated, most will walk through fire for you.
  2. But isn't is a shame that almost every nurse you talk with, no matter where they are from or what area they are working the story is the same. I have worked 40 years and retired, but nothings changed. Why is that? My theroy. Too many Chief Nurses playing the good ole boy game to keep themselves safe at the top, and selling the staff down the river. Thoughts?
  3. And what if the child was being neglected?
  4. Darlin' you got a staffing and management problem, not a nursing problem. Wait until you start having to carry a gun to school. I nursed at staff through management levels for 40 years and loved every day of it. Most of those 40 years under trying, stressful conditions, which if unfortunate, however one goes where ones heart leads.
  5. Sweety, unfortunately there are RN's among us who do not feel it is their "job" to empty bedpans or clean a patient. These are folks that have gotten their little degree and gotten to big for their britches!! A real nurse takes care of a patient regardless of their need. You go right on taking good care of patients and no worries about an *******.
