  1. When I asked they said it was highly unlikely that those classes wouldn't transfer - also I'm taking them at UT Arlington so that must count for something. They also said that the "due date" function on MyUTH was basically dysfunctional and to ignore it. Wish they'd put some sort of note to this effect on the homepage to keep everyone's worries at bay. As for deadlines for the stuff on the pre-enrollment checklist (drug test, cpr...) I don't think their is an official one - you just can't register for classes until they're all done. I think I heard somewhere that registration for us will open April 15 (...or maybe that was a different school), so best have everything done a week before then.
  2. I got the acceptance email around the 20th as well - was about to accept UTMB's offer. Finally got a reply to my questions about my transcript eval when I replied to the acceptance email; turns out that despite a degree in anthropology I still have to take intro to sociology. Thank goodness lonestar had one that runs 3/18-5/12. So we have orientation on the 15th and after that can register for classes? Do you know if we all go through them in the same order, as displayed on the curriculum online? or can we mix it up a bit? I'm taking patho and pharmacology for a backup school right not and can transfer those - leaving only 9 hours of classes in the summer. Not even full time! What about housing? I hate commuting so I'm planning on living as close to the school as possible, but apartment searches haven't turned up much, despite the urban setting. It's either cheap and nasty or expensive and over the top, not much in the middle. And the student apartment options on their website got some pretty bad yelp reviews, offer little info, and seem to have a long waiting list anyway. Has anyone else had any luck in this department? Also, I haven't officially accepted their offer yet because I bought a new laptop for school - which met all the requirements listed online, including "windows 7 or better." It has windows 8. MyUTH will NOT work with windows 8!! I've emailed the helpdesk, who were unhelpful and simply listed the operating systems that would work. Hopefully they update soon because I don't want to have to deal with finding a public computer every time I need to check My UTH. Does anyone know how to work around this? Maybe a plug-in to download? Also can't find the FB page. Is it ticked off as private? Post a LINK already!
  3. Interviewed jan 28th got my acceptance email today! Also still waiting to hear from my first choice - uthsc-h - hopefully before feb 25....
  4. I finally got my transcript eval last week and things were a bit messed up - mostly because they didn't account at all for for my fall classes. I've sent emails to admissions and soninfo with no response and have left messages on the machine for the "BS Student adviser" the phone robot directs you to, but no call back. I'm too busy to chase these people down! How did you get a hold of anyone at UTHSC-H??
  5. I applied back in November for the summer program and its been so nerve racking! I'm applying to five schools because I keep hearing how competitive the application process is, so I'm paranoid I won't get in anywhere, an I'm in a time crunch! - basically if it was affordable and had an accelerated program then I applied. (yeah, only five universities in all of TX met this criteria) I haven't heard anything since the initial confirmation that they received the application and the access info for myUTH - despite emailing lots questions to any and all email addresses listed on their website. I guess to get answers you have to call?? From what I've read here, when the status online says "initiated" it means that they receive it, but haven't looked at it? I took the hesi back in October under their school code, so I didn't have to send them the scores myself. I took A&P II, Micro, stats, nutrition and medical terminology in the fall, so I sent them an updated transcript after grades were posted, but my stupid school just sent it this week - with so many prereqs I hope they get it and actually look at it. Comparing my transcript to their online list of Prereqs I think I'm good. It just says six hours of english comp -- I took english I and technical writing for my BA, so that should be okay. I'm enrolled in texas government this spring (but it ends may 12th, when would classes start??). The only thing I'm worried about is the intro to sociology class - I haven't taken any soc classes but my degree is in Anthropology – and they’re so similar!! I don’t know exact GPAs because I haven’t calculated them, but when I finished my BA I had like a 3.3. I’ve taken 30 hours of prereqs at lonestar last summer/fall – including A&PI/II, psych, micro, stats, etc and got all A’s and one B. I got a 96 on the hesi. It majorly sucks if it still won’t be until march/april to hear something! I’m also applying to UTMB and have an interview next week. I hear that they get back to you 2-4 weeks after the interview. I Just want to get a “You’re in!” from one school! Then I can relax….
  6. Just found the SUMMER 2013 board and re-posted there. Thought about deleting above post, but left it if anyone's interested. :3
  7. Applying to nursing schools has been the worst! I have a bachelors already (anthropology), so I'm applying to UTMB's accelerated BSN program [as well as UTHSC - H (first choice), TWU, UTA, TA&M corpus]. I had no idea until I stumbled upon this thread that they changed the deadline! Because I'm applying to so many schools I made a spreadsheet back in the summer with schools, deadlines, requirements, etc trying to keep it all straight, and it still says "NOV FIFTEENTH" so of course I rushed to take my exams in October and submit everything by then. I did the supplemental around the end of november. These early deadlines were driving me crazy because I took A&P II, micro, nutrition, stats and med term just this last fall, so I though I'd do all this work and they wouldn't even see the grades. ...well I was wrong. So I should add the grades to NursingCAS? and send THEM another transcript? I could see why they would want it, but they havent actually asked for it via email, snail mail or mystar.... I got an email today scheduling an interview for the 24th. I guess that's good and I guess that means that I submitted enough. I wish I knew if this interview is just another step in the application process or a sign that I have a good chance so long as I don't blow it. :) I thought about making an appointment with an adviser the same day, as galveston is 2 hours away, but it seems kind of worthless, because if she tells me I need another class, when would I take it? Does anyone know the day that classes start? All I can find is "May" but my online texas government class at lonestar ends on may 12th - Issue? When I wrote my statement, at first I couldn't find a prompt anywhere, so I actually emailed an adviser and asked what she wanted - her response was unhelpful. Something like, "our requirements are online" so I just wrote what I thought a school would want to know and finally found the terms tonight and luckily I think I met the requirements. I'm constantly paranoid that I'm missing some vital document or deadline for some school. My GPA from my first degree was ok - 3.3 or something, but I wasn't planning on going back to school, so I had no motivation to strive for all A's, just do generally well. I've taken 29 hours of science preereqs this summer/fall to apply for summer/fall 2013 programs and made all A's and 1 B. I don't like to make lame excuses but the TEAS was not a good experience. I had to drive clear across Houston in the awful morning traffic, and because of construction was actually a few minutes late - didn't think they would let me in, but security was MUCH more lax than at the HESI. I had to finish in like half the time too because USCIS decided to schedule my husbands Immigration interview (he's australian)the same day on the other side of Houston at noon and we only have the one car (he waited outside while I took the test). I ended up doing OK anyway: 88 overall score, 98th percentile for nation. I don't usually test well, so I'm not really sure what happened.... but can't complain. I'm posting this because this is the stuff I wan't to know from other applicants. Has anyone done an interview or know what to expect? I have absolutely no medical background so I'm worried that will work against me. Thanks!
