  1. Hello, I hope you figured out something about Mission, but just in case. They are currently restructuring how they accept new graduate RNs and their Residency program. Starting pay is $22ish. I agree glassdoor seems to have mainly disgruntled employees that say "this place sucks" and that seems to apply to all hospitals. Having worked at other facilities, Mission is just like all the other big health systems in the current healthcare market. They require a commitment to obtain a BSN within 6 years if you don't have it already. Pay is good for the area unless you want to work in LTC. New Grads are pretty much at the mercy of HR where they end up. Occasionally some managers have been hiring outside of the residency program, but I hear that the newest restructure will put an end to that. It's really not a bad place to work though.
  2. I've been a PCU/Stepdown RN for about 2 years now and I'm considering travel. I have a family with 2 school age children and 1 preschooler. My husband is a stay at home dad. I know that traveling with a family can be done, but I'm wondering does everyone who does this homeschool? What are tips and tricks for traveling with family in tow? Also, I've spoken with a manager and anticipate an offer soon from Roper in Charleston, SC. Does anyone have any experience with this organization? To further throw a kink into my decision, I was just called for a M-F School nurse position here where I live. It would be a pay cut and I know I would get tired of it, but it would be a great schedule for my family. Am I being selfish by considering dragging my family with me? Although I know I'm the one who has to decide, any advice and perspective is appreciated. Thanks!
  3. It is much easier to get a job as a new grad in Johnson City. Mountain States Health Alliance is the organization that owns Johnson City Medical Center and they love new grads. MSHA starting pay is $18/hr.
