  1. Thanks, UMBDude. Hopefully I will get into somewhere...I was just really hoping for a state school because northeastern and Regis are EXPENSIVE! Great programs, but who want a to pay that much if they don't have to!? Time to look for scholarships! Anyways, I've been denied entry enough to know that it's not "me", per say....good luck all! Crossing my fingers for you guys!
  2. So, I still haven't received a formal letter, and my major still says exercise science. I don't think I got in, but it's been a while since my status was updated to them having a decision. The office of admissions has not emailed me back either. Either way, in the grand scheme of things, I would just like a formal notice so I can put it out of my mind!
  3. Yeah, I have no idea. I'm just trying not to think about it until I get my letter. It's weird because I'm actually from MA, I'm just temporarily out in Washington finishing up some personal business. Ugh. I just hate not knowing....and relying on a status update! Good luck, though! And seriously congrats to all that get/got accepted!
  4. I won't "give up". I have applications out at a few different schools. This is the 5th school that rejected me, and I have no idea why. I'm an honor student, president of the honor society at my school, I have 5 years of experience some of which is in an ICU, and I balance work and life pretty damn good. I'm just confused about what schools are looking for in a candidate, not that any of you that got in are not qualified applicants...I'm just confused. Every nurse, doctor and tech tells me I will be a fantastic nurse, but yet I'm not the the one getting into programs. It's frustrating. But, alas, I will keep chugging along.
  5. My status was updated to a decision has been made. But my major was changed to Exercise Science...so I'm pretty sure I didn't get into the nursing program. Bummer. Still waiting on a few more schools tho!
  6. Checked my status today and it FINALLY said complete. Now I will just neurotically check everyday until I hear something or it changes...I will be working part time too. I have a family to take care of and I can't afford not to! What are CNA jobs out that way like? I've been a CNA for 5 years and have 4 years experience in an ICU...so, hopefully that will help me out with job prospects.
  7. Congrats, GK! I finally just spoke to someone at UMass and my transcripts were under my maiden name. She said it won't affect my admission decision since I did send them on time and they just got mixed up. She was wicked nice about it. Hopefully I will be seeing you guys in the fall! Send me some good vibes, people!
  8. I emailed. But I think I'm just going to call in the morning on monday. Sometimes email doesn't get handled as fast as it would if you were on the phone. I would hate to have it affect my admissions decision..... Congrats, UMBDude!
  9. I applied on 1/17. I applied online, then had transcripts sent. Some were coming from Washington and had my maiden name. So, I don't know if that would affect how long it takes for them to update it. I know they were received prior to the deadline because I had confirmation. Would the fact that they still are missing online affect an admissions decision? It's saying incomplete on my Salem state application too!
  10. Congrats, JR!! So exciting for you! Hopefully I will be joining you in the fall...I just checked the status of my application and it still says incomplete. UHG. So frustrating and making me nervous........it says they are missing two of my transcripts, but I know they got them because I got confirmation they did. Do you think it could be because my maiden name is on the two that are still listed as missing? Maybe I'll give them a call again.
  11. Well, that's good to hear! I just hate all the waiting. Hopefully, I'll hear back soon...in the meantime, I'll just neurotically check my online status every day!
  12. I applied online too. But I'm in Washington state right now so mailed all my transcripts. I had to overnight them....I have confirmation of them getting there, but I guess they will just take a few days to scan them into the system. Super frustrating. I have a really spotty academic past, which is my main concern. A bunch of withdraws, four different colleges, etc....but my current transcripts for my associates of science are honors and phi theta kappa. I hate the waiting! I'm 30....this shouldn't be this hard! Lol
  13. That would be killing me too. I checked my status yesterday and it still said my application was incomplete online. The admissions office said that it was be cause of the volume of mail they have been getting, it takes a while to update the system. Anyways, sounds like your app is strong. So you shouldn't have much to worry about. I have a 3.7 over all and a 3.6 in sciences, and I scored a 75 on the TEAS. Admissions said they look for anything above 53. I have 4 years of healthcare experience in an ICU as a CNA. I also had a really great recommendation who knows me really well...I think my essay was great, it was from the heart about an influential person in my life (my son.) so, I guess we just sit around and wait at this point. Did you guys apply any where else? I applied to Salem State too. And planning on applying to Regis and Northeastern as well.
  14. Any idea when they will go out? I've read in previous posts that some people know as early as the end of the month. Feeling pretty anxious. Did you apply anywhere else?
  15. Anyone out there apply? I have seen threats for previous years, but none for this year. Just thought I would get one going!
  16. Sorry for the delay in response! Simmons apparently has a strict policy about retakes...I basically had to take a year of classes over, which is totally craptastic and my own fault. It's also one of the more expensive schools. I'd really love to get into UMass or Northeastern! Now I just have to take the TEAS test...uhg!
  17. Thanks for the feedback! I have also heard Simmons has a great program. Their website says they have a really strict retake policy, and I basic ally had to retake and entire years classes. I suppose I could always just pick up the phone and give admissions a call!
  18. I have been emailing directors/advisors, I spoke with someone at Northeastern and I'm waiting to hear back from a few others. The time difference is killer. They all say the same thing..."our program is very competitive." Sometimes I get calls at 6AM!!
  19. Thanks for the feedback. Main reason I am choosing these schools is because they are all within commutable distance from where I will be living. My main reason for moving back is to be close my Mom and my aunt who is very sick. I haven't heard much on BHCC, but I have heard a lot of people recommend Salem State and Northeastern. I just really have ZERO clue about what my competition is like or what they look for in an applicant...out here it's pretty ridiculous (I live in Washington state right now.) I applied to 5 schools and got into none. (bummer...) Either way, I just really am not interested in spending a ton of money on applications if I don't stand a chance against competition. Sigh...
  20. I'm planning on applying to Northeastern traditional BSN, Umass Boston BSN, Salem State BSN, Bunker Hill RN, and Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences BSN program. Possibly Endicott College and Curry College. Anyone know anything about these programs? GPA of admitted students, what they look for in the application process, etc.? I have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and 3.6 sciences GPA, I also have 3 years of healthcare experience as CNA (and a Health Unit Coordinator) in a hospital...and a family... My top three are Salem State, Umass Boston and Northeastern...I did all my pre-requisites in Washington state, and I just have no idea what my competition is like or what the admissions people are looking for in an applicant. Any information would be awesome! Thanks! :)
  21. Yeah, I'm stuck in Bellingham, WA...so Seattle would be a cornucopia of opportunity. Skagit and Whatcom county are not especially "diverse"... I'd love to be in Seattle right now. It sucks, but we just can't move because of family stuff, so I made the decision a while ago (basically right after I sent in all my applications. Uhg, because it was ******* expensive to apply everywhere.) I'm not jumping into a new course of action, I just am applying to the two community college programs up here. I've also lived in about 6 different states and general protocol is 60-90 transferable credits at the time of transfer, and approximately 30-something at the time of application. I was short one class (stats). I know UW's transfer policy is at least 40 (to the university, not the BSN program.) I've just never heard of a place "reconsidering" a decision after acceptance/rejections were sent. Either way, I wish everyone the best of luck with their education and I understand if it's hard to just let it go. And "crushed" is a pretty dramatic word...I would use "crushed" if my dog died. @can'ttakethewait LOL I understood what you meant, lol...I appreciate the encouraging words. No worries.
  22. I'm really not "crushed" at all. Let's be realistic. The world still turns and I will still be a nurse at the end of the day...Honestly, anyone who would be crushed about not getting into a college has probably never faced rejection before. I put in just as much work as the next guy, but I'm really not going to go and cry about it. I don't have time for it. Plus, I can't even move to seattle right now anyways...I mean, let's not be too dramatic about it. I'm also not waiting around to apply to 2014 programs. I don't have the time and my life goes far beyond filling out applications and writing entrance essays...I seriously don't want to go through the process again. It's annoying, way too time consuming and I have a family to raise. @csweet When I called and asked they said that I wasn't admitted because I hadn't completed my stats course which put me under 36 credits. If I showed them that I completed it, meaning send my winter grades, they would reconsider because my essay and GPA were outstanding. So....I mean, I don't know. It's the weirdest college "rejection" letter I've ever seen.

  24. I got a weird letter saying that they would reconsider their decision if I showed them my completed course work and if wasn't fair to admit me if I had under 36 completed transferable credits. I'm so confused. It's not like it really matters anyways, because I can't move to Seattle right now...But it's kind of a bummer. I didn't get into any of the programs I applied to and my gpa is 3.6.
  25. I still didn't get a letter either. However, I live in Blaine...
