  1. I just got my initial e-mail today! They actually called me & left a voicemail for me to check my e-mail. I'm still in disbelief. This is my second yr applying. HPSA 17, tier 1, 168%
  2. Sooooo, after I e-mailed & asked why I wasn't awarded & they told me they don't have that information, I called just now & the woman on the phone said she doesn't have that information either, but she asked when I applied. I told her it was around 2 days before the deadline, and she says, "Oh, that's why." I asked her all of the questions you're probably screaming right now (I thought they have to review every person before making awards? I thought it was based on the debt ratio & awarded most debt to least? I thought the hospital score matters?). And her answer? - "a lot of things are taken into consideration, but I think they simply ran out of funds." apparently how they're awarding it isn't what the website says. Would kind of make sense since some people were awarded while my application said "submitted" for months after. I told her my application went from "submitted" to "not awarded" in the same day, and she agreed that was weird & probably they just ran out of funds before reviewing my application. I asked if there was anyone who could tell me the reason or at least confirm that I had submitted all necessary documentation & she said she doesn't know who that person would be, but my best bet is to e-mail (I already tried that.....).
  3. I was also under the impression that private loans that were taken out & directly distributed to my college for my BSN are eligible for the NELRP; if not, I have my answer as to why I didn't receive an award. I'm going to e-mail them to be certain or else I'm wastin gmy time filling this out next year. Also, if they aren't eligible, is anyone aware of any forgiveness program where private loans are eligible? and not that my opinion matters, but why would private loans not be eligible? I could not have gone to nursing school without one, because I simply was not awarded enough federal loans (although I have a few of those too).
  4. I called at the beginning of the year & was told there was nothing they could do because it is a private loan & I had already selected the gradual repayment plan (pay x amount for 2 years & then payments doubled for the next 25 yrs/until I pay it off). I asked about forbearance or any other option because I simply can't afford it, and she said there was nothing to be done; all she could recommend was paying as much as I can then. Also can't consolidate because it's a private loan. Also, HRSA replied to my inquiry about reason my application was denied & they said they don't get told reason why. Is there a different option to pursue this? someone would could tell me why? I don't want to repeat a mistake next year if this is the reason I didn't get it.
  5. I didn't receive an e-mail as of now. I just logged onto the website a few minutes ago (still said submitted as of this AM) & it just says "not selected for award." I e-mailed to ask for a reason if they knew. Interesting that it went from 'submitted' to 'not selected' without "under review". I called just yesterday to ask if it was reviewed yet & the girl on the phone said she can only see what I see so she doesn't think it was reviewed. I really don't know what to do. I don't think I can keep up with these payments, but if I don't then I can't apply next year obviously. I'm just so upset & stressed.
  6. got my official rejected notification today. I just don't get it. As I said I was 175%/14.
  7. I am trying my hardest not to panic, but my application still says 'submitted.' I'm 180%/14, so I don't get it. I've called twice & all I'm told is that they can't see anything that I don't see on the page & that I have until 10/31 to hear back. When I mentioned that other people are being awarded & how can they award without reviewing every applicant, they say they don't know. I just keep thinking maybe I didn't submit something correctly or forgot something...ahhhhhh
