Help!!! LPN wanting more
Hey Everyone. I passed my NCLEX this past Sept. and I've gotten 3 months of LTC experience under my belt. I don't think I want to become and RN, but I also know LPN jobs are limited in NC. I was wondering if some of you could give me advice. I feel like I would enjoy home health but I know you have to have 6 months to 12 months experience before you can do home health. I'm not sure LTC is what I'm meant to be doing but I know I have to get some experience and I need to be working. Should I start looking for other jobs, go back to school for something else? I'm confused am I the only one that feels this way. I enjoy helping people but I can't see doing LTC for the rest of my career. Please any advice would be helpful. thank you

Last Day of Clinical!
Last Thursday was our last day of clinicals for this semester. I was so glad to get it over with. We only have 3 more actual class days and the 17th is our exam for the semester. I am so ready for a little time off for Christmas. I feel the same way you do. I'm just glad to have a little time off to catch up on sleep and some family time.

select all that apply
We have right many when we take our tests. The only advice I've ever gotten regarding these types of questions is that when you have questions that involve select all the apply: too often not all of the answers are right and there is usually more then one that applies. I doubt this helps you that much but I know since I've been in nursing school those two little bits of information has helped me a lot. I hope you continue to do well!!! Good Luck to you!!!!

Feeling really down in the dumps and friend-less in nursing school...advice needed
Hello, I just wanted to say congrats for getting this far! I think we all feel like loners in the nursing programs because for some people it is a contest to see who makes the highest or does the best. I am constantly feeling as if I'm not as smart as my classmates! I have to keep telling myself that I am in this program for a reason. It isn't easy getting into the nursing classes so I must know something. As far as the others in your class go, please don't let them get to you. Some people don't like to see others succeed. You have to believe in yourself and keep your head up. It is all going to be worth it and for the ones who seem to want to cut you down, don't sweat them. In the end it will come back to them and when you are shinning like a diamond they will be wishing they didn't treat you the way they did. Don't get discouraged! Kim

Terrified for clinical.
I know clinicals can be very stressful. I am in nursing school now and we have been to clinicals the past 3 weeks. The best advice I can give you is do your best and make sure you keep the patient safe. I don't have the experience that some of my classmates have but I have studied hard, practiced my labs, and I always remember to keep the patient safe. I am always going behind myself to make sure that the bed is in the lowest position, bed rails are up, and there is nothing in the floor that will trip the patients. The one thing I try to do is go into the clinical setting with a postive outlook so whatever comes my way I'll be able to take it head on. Good luck and keep your head up!

Need some advice please help
Good afternoon, I am currently almost done with the first semester of my lpn schooling. We have started clinicals and will soon be passing out meds. So far my average in my nursing class is an 85. I enjoy nursing school and it's many challenges but everyone is wondering if I will continue on to become an RN. I at first thought that I would like to continue on but now I am doubting if I do or not. I am passing my labs and I've passed all my tests but I still don't think I am smart enough to keep going onto the rn program. I am thankful everyday I have gotten this far but I feel like at any moment I will slip up and made a mistake and be kicked out. Has any other LPN students felt like this? Any advice for me? I would appreciate any feedback ya'll can give thanks. Kim

Overweight issues; uncomfortable with being practiced on by another student
I just want to share my experience so far with you. I am a fluffy person and I like you have been all my life. It does make me feel uncomfortable at times but then think of it this way. Not every patient we have is going to be small, many people are overweight and we are going to have to provide care for them as well. I think a lot of it has to do with you being comfortable in your own skin. Instead of seeing it as an issue, see it as another learning experience for those in your class. :) keep your chin up too because we are in school to be nurses and we are going to make it!
