Hi! I'm somewhat new to all of this, but have been exploring my dreams of becoming a nurse. I've read a lot recently, but I keep getting mixed up with all the acronyms and shorthand. Could someone please explain the steps to me? I should say, my eventual goal for now is BSN-RN. I may go on to masters after that, but for now I just want to know my pathway to the Bachelor's. From my understanding so far... You begin by making the wonderful decision to become a nurse. You find a program you want to apply to. The program I found locally wants me to take a Nurse Aide class first, then take the certification. (CNA, yes?) What does that allow me to do? Work in a hospital I know, but doing what? Do I then apply to the program? People keep referring to taking the prerequesites. What are these generally? And when does the PNAT come in? Does every program require this? Then, pending acceptance to the program (*fingers crossed*) I start classes to achieve ADN which allows me to take the RN exam and then work as an RN. While working, I can take the second half and achieve my BSN which is what most jobs are looking for now. I know I want to do the ADN then BSN path because I want to be able to work sooner. As a side note, what is the industry stigma with community college as opposed to going to a larger or more known university? Does it come down to what you make of your education, or will jobs not interview me with a community college on my resume? I don't have a university within an hour of me, so that option is really off the table for me realistically. I really apprecaite anyone's input on this. I'm guessing it can be different depending on your program or state, but I just want to be clear on my pathway.

I could be totally off on this, but when I had to change insurance providers, I was told that pre-existing conditions did not count as long as you didn't have a lapse in coverage. So as long as I set it up that my new insurance started the day the old one let off, or had an overlap in coverages, nothing was considered pre-existing. It is at least worth a call to an insurance company. Again, this is just what I was told during my long battles with finding an insurance company, so don't hold me to it, but maybe it will help!
