University of Miami FNP Program 2014
Thanks for the responses, everyone! The NursingCAS website is the most confusing part of the application to me. They're still verifying my GPA. I'm assuming UM doesn't even technically look at your application until the GPA has been verified by the NursingCAS?

How soon did it take for everyone to hear back from the school once the NursingCAS verified your GPA? Has anyone been accepted officially yet, or are they still interviewing people at this point?

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency 2014
Good luck to you all new applicants! I didn't have the "avg GPA" for the program ( mine was a tad lower), and not a ton of volunteer experience nor any previous work as a Tech/CNA, but I was accepted. I really think that the interview is the deciding factor, so prepare, prepare, prepare and again prepare for it! I'm sure you all will do great! And definitely put some hard work into writing any statements of interest in your application packet. Every bit matters. :)

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2013
Waitlisted for adult med/surg. . Found out today around 4pm eastern time. Kind of bummed . Anyone know when they actually notify those wait listed? The email said something about by June 13th. That's insanely long .

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2013
I saw that info about spots in their January or February newsletter for nurses at Vanderbilt. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see that newsletter again since they seem to take it off and put up the new one for following month when it's time. It had a broken down column of how many initially applied, how many were interviewed, how many got in each track in the end. I realize that was for the Winter 2013 cohort but at least it's a semi reliable ballpark range to look at.

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2013
I hope they let us know by April 12th. I looked through last year's posts for this program and it seems that on April 12th pretty much everyone got an email with the decision. It's only 8 days away!!! A little nervous! I saw for the Winter 2013 cohort that began their training in January/feb they took roughly 50% of those who interviewed. About 24-28 spots for Pediatrics and Med/Surg track and less spots for other tracks. This waiting is killing me

Me too! Yea, it seems that a lot of people did peds and critical care. I also haven't seen that many med/surg. Did you the one that is no preference over medical or surgical? Or did you pick one?

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2013
Does anyone know how many persons per track they accept? Is it a set number per track, or same number per track? Good luck to everyone who applied! I know I'm nervous and excited to hear back from them!!!

soon-to-be new BSN grad, where to apply...?
I am a current accelerated BSN student who wants to relocate to Tampa area in Florida. I will graduate in spring of 2013. I wanted to ask what hospitals have specific new graduate applications and tend to hire new grads in Tampa area? I heard the VA hospital is a great place to start, looked at St. Looked at BayHealthCare website (no new grad-RN positions or websites regarding that). Should I just make a trip to tampa and walk into hospitals and give them my resume in person...? really lost here lol Thanks!!

1yr Accelerated or 2yr Generic Program, What do you recommend?
Hi Josh, I am currently in an accelerated BSN (2nd semester just started, one more left after this one) and about half way through. I am not sure if you are looking at a BSN or ASN program. I also was deciding if I should do the accelerated or regular BSN or ASN. I was told prior to starting my program to not even think about working during the program and that it would put a strain on my personal life (visiting friends, family, socializing, etc). All of that is, indeed, true. My first semester I took 19 hours. It was a tough adjustment to a totally new type of learning and environment, and I think that's why it seemed so hard. I was studying a lot (most weekends were spent studying) and most weeknights. Most, but, not all so keep that in mind lol. It seemed overwhelming at times, stressful, especially trying to juggle classes. But knowing that I will be done with the program in less than 8 months is an amazing feeling... it is worth it if you are willing to put in the time, be present for all lectures, participate in all online forums for online assignments and put your personal life on hold for a year or so. Best of luck!
