Hello Everyone! I took the CRNE June 2014 and passed. In order to pass the exam, I took a CRNE refresher course for a month, studied intensively, took a month long break from work, studied my notes from Potter and perry, Crne prep guide, and prep guide from Nurses Education. In addition, I practiced answering multiple choice questions as well as their rationales. Thank you for all your guidance and support.

I received my result yesterday and I passed ... I'm from Toronto...

I am patiently waiting for the result... 5 more weeks to go...

I prefer Nurses Education Inc. over Toronto School of Health and they do have classes in toronto and mississauga. But before attending any prep courses, I suggest to read Potter and Perry textbook, CNA prep guide, Mosby, Lippincott CNA guide, and CNO documents pertaining nurse-client relationships, ethics, etc.

Thank you for responding. I am not sure about Ryerson but Ive been to Bloomberg (2 day course) and Toronto School of Health (1-2 month extensive course). I would like to try something new since Ive been to those two classes/courses. I am planning on taking 2 months (April and May) off from work so I can focus on studying, which is also why I want to take an extensive course. I want to find the best CRNE study course where it suits my time and needs. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Good day to all. I am planning to take my june 2014 CRNE exam and I would like to know if attending a comprehensive course review (eg. Toronto School of Health, Bloomberg CRNE review) is beneficial. I graduated two years ago but failed my CRNE twice. However, I took the NCLEX-RN exam last September and passed. I studied so hard for the NCLEX exam. I reviewed the Saunders book for two months, took Kaplan course, studied the La Charity book, and practiced at least 50 multiple choice questions a day. I was hoping that passing the NCLEX will boost my confidence but i am feeling more stressed and anxious because this will be my last attempt in taking the CRNE. I really wanted to pass so I also took a job in an agency and worked at least 24 hours a week as a nursing aide/personal support worker/constant care provider (sitter). Also, I choose to work in a hospital facility so I can gain experience. I need some advice on how to study better for the CRNE. I am constantly reviewing the notes that I had from my NCLEX exam but i know CRNE is different from NCLEX. I am also studying the Mosby and CRNE prep guide that I had two years ago. IN addition, I also wanted to know if anyone had taken the " THE CANADIAN NURSING CAREER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM" comprehensive course for CRNE and would like to provide some insights about the said program. Practice multiple choice questions since you still have a month long to study. Review your nursing content. Another option is you can go to a library borrow a book that has NCLEX multiple choice questions (Lippincott, Kaplan, Saunders, etc.)

I am a canadian citizen and I graduated here in Canada. Im sorry that I cannot help you with some of your questions. I can only explain the difference between Canadian RN exam and NCLEX. Since you are eligible to take NCLEX, why dont you give it a shot. As long as you study nursing contents and practice test taking strategies then you should be fine. In kaplan, they recommend to practice 150Q a day. Also, I learned that in order to pass you should be getting analysis and application in most of the questions which you will require to think critically.

PVT: From my experience, The PVT is accurate. This is actually my third attempt (75Q). With my first (210 Q) and second attempt (165 Q). When I tried to do the PVT (this was after my 1st and 2nd NCLEX exam) it went directly to the CC page. But this time, I got the good pop-up. 48 hours later, I did the quick result and it says "PASS". How i pass the NCLEX: As for my studying, I only used the Saunders comprehensive book and the other blue book (Saunders all Multiple Choice Questions). This didn't help me much since I am only studying basely on the content and I felt that I was not mastering enough any critical thinking skills. Before I took the exam the third time, I decided to take Kaplan and studied for two months, at least 3 hours a day. These are my results: Diagnostic- 63%, QT1-67% QT2-76% QT3-65% QT4-74% QT5-69% QT6-70% QT7-65% Readiness-63%. (Based on the result on my readiness exam the probability of passing is 96%). QBank (which I did 1300+Q, at least 100 Q a day)- 56%. For content I preferred the Saunders compared to Kaplan but for practicing NCLEX type of Questions, I prefer the questions from Kaplan. Also from my experience, the Decision Tree used in Kaplan was effective. I actually used it when I was answering the questions. For example, would I assess first or implement, the use of MASLOW or ABC, physical vs. psychosocial, clean vs. dirty, etc. But in order to master the Decision Tree I suggest being knowledgeable of the nursing content first. I also used La Charity book to practice answering prio and delegation questions. I recommend this book and it is very useful. Lastly, I'm a religious person and I believe in God. So every time a question pops out, I pray that I get it right. So if you fail the first time, second, third, or fourth and so on, don't be discourage and do not give up. With hard work and faith, I know you can do it!

How many days do they post your license no. in NY BRN after the NCLEX RN exam?

I have the same situation as you do. I took the Nclex Rn exam today (sept 24 2013) and finished with 75 questions. I did the PVT right after and I got a "good pop up". I hope we pass.

Less anxiety but I still need to see the word "pass" before I can celebrate. I can't wait for Thursday. BTW, how long do I need to wait to check if your name is on the BON new york website for license verification?

I took the NCLEX-RN exam today (September 24 2013) at 8:00 AM and finished with 75 questions. An hour after the exam I tried the PVT and I got this pop-up message " Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your member board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time". Is this a good sign? I dont want to get my hopes up.

Good Evening, I would like to know if I need a student visa to take a refresher course (one to two monther either online or in-class) for NCLEX in the US. I am a Canadian citizen and I am planning on studying and taking the test in the US rather than here in Canada. Thank You.

Thank you. Hi romelmads. So what i did is I just filled up Application form 1 and finish up the course such as the child Abuse and infection control course. So I guess I do not need to fill up forms 2-5?

Thank you for responding. Please corrrect me if I am wrong. The way I understand your response was I just have to wait for the letter from BON. So, are you saying that I do not need to apply for the New York State Department since CGFNS was the one sending my application. Also, does it mean that I do not need to submit any forms such as the Nursing Licensing Application Form besides the form that I sent to CGFNS.

I graduted last October 2011 with a degree in Nursing here in Canada. Last May 2012, I applied for CGFNS Credential Verification Service for New York State. I am planning to take the NCLEX exam in New York and I still do not have a nursing license here in Canada. I already submitted all required documents and as of now, my status stated "Ready for Submission". Also, I am planning to take the CRNE on June 2013 which is my final attempt. My questions are, do I still need to apply for the New York State Department in order for me to take the NCLEX examination? Also, do I need to submit the Nursing Licensing Application Form besides the form that I sent to CGFNS? In addition, am I required to take the Child Abuse and Infection Control courses before I get approve in taking the NCLEX exam?
