@skylark did you study and take the CEN certification exam? Where did you study the Uk course? The clinical workbook looked interesting that my colleagues had, they learnt suturing, and everything seemed relevant to where we practice in London.

Hey! IS your department likely to give you a place on a course just on the basis of interest and asking? I have been in the A+E for 18 months now and have asked every four months. I was so disheartened to hear last year that £9,000 was unspent that could have been used for courses. My main question is how does your dept allocate places and who did you speak to to get on a course?

I will probably need additional theory and practice placements in peadiatric, mental health and maternity. Did you already have your BSc? I need to top up to degree as well probably before I try to get licensed. I am wondering what agency you used to evaluate your credentials. AZ allows the use of four different ones including a Consulting Agency located in Florida that looks good as an alternative to CGFNS. I appreciate any assistance to find out more regarding qualifying to take the NCLEX with my training ie. how to get the further training I will need. This forum is very helpful thank you all for contributing.x

STNEeotser there is something here in the UK called patient group directives which give the authorisation to give things such as basic pain relief, indigestion relief, etc with medications or treatments. I work in emergency medicine and our nurses assess patients and can go straight away to a doctor to authorise pain relief and other assessments are standard such as ECG for any chest pain, head injury, collapse/fall and so on.

Dear qualified UK nurses: I have recently finished my course in Adult Nursing and have interviewed this week for a band 5 and got the job. Am I correct that it is after the Board of Examiners evaluate your coursework and then the uni sends something to either you or directly to the NMC...??? By EASIEST I understand nursegela means the path that her education and training is ALREADY most compatible with. I am looking for information about an adult trained nurse in the UK working as an RN in the USA. There are major hurdles as there is further education and training required before even being permitted to apply to take licensing exams.
