  1. You are def not alone, I am going thru the same, working nights, have no life, bad unit with not enough staff, bad management, aching body 24/7! list goes on and on. Start applying at some other floors ... that's what I am doing, we worked hard to get our degree, don't let one unit ruin everything, good luck! Going back to school is another option, NPs seem to have better shifts and don't have to deal with the big mess on the floor.
  2. ER doesn't hire LPNs due to the fact that LPNs duties are very limited. They are not allowed to take some of the doctors orders, give IV push meds, give blood products etc. So getting your RN degree will help you get where you want to be =)
  3. It will be harder since its an outpatient setting, try to remember the MOST common questions they ask when it comes to the patients, maybe make your own report sheet for each patient like the one used in the inpatient settings and for each patient write down patients name, diagnosis, doctors also like to know recent lab results, maybe include some subjective data and what you observed. That way you have some informations handy. Hope that helps!
