What's the funniest most unusual baby name?
I worked at a pediatric dental office before nursing school... these are some of the best I can remember: First, middle, last name: Winter Cashmere Coats (I swear to Jesus, I could not make that up!) A family of four: Sequoia, Camry, Solara, Avalon (All Toyota vehicles. Funny enough, the Mom drove a Chevy!) JTPrincess. Dad's name started with a J, Mom's with a T. I also know of a girl I went to high school with who just named her baby girl AnaLyse (she spells/capitalizes it this way) Anal... her daughter's name starts with Anal. Bless this poor child's heart!

No reply after interview
That's unfortunate I tried calling again this morning before noon, no answer. I left a message but I won't expect a call back. It's very disheartening to be treated in this manner, especially after all of the time I took to prepare for the interview and the anticipation of wanting this specific position so badly. However, what's meant to be, will be! I'll take it as a blessing in disguise :) Onwards and upwards!!

This position I interviewed for was actually created for nursing students who have completed a minimum of 2 clinical semesters. My area has two new hospitals currently being built and expected to complete by the end of this year and the beginning of next year... so some hospitals are trying to get us into their hospitals before we graduate and have therefore created these "nurse tech" positions for us... it's basically a CNA/PCT position.

I'm a nursing student getting ready to graduate in December. I figured I would get a nurse tech position this summer in a hospital so that I could have SOMETHING to put on a resume once I get my license :) Miraculously, I found a position on a postpartum unit! L&D is something I would LOVE to do and I believe having any sort of experience on this unit would be invaluable to a new grad nurse. I scored an interview and was told that I should expect to hear something back by the end of the week. Friday ... no phone call, no email. Since it was Memorial day on Monday of this week, I thought maybe they would call on Tuesday... still nothing. So I sent an email on Wednesday morning to the HR guy (this was the only person I was given contact info for, and the nurse who interviewed me told me I should expect to hear from him on whether or not I got it). No response to my email. Does anyone have any advice for me at this point?? This is a major hospital in my area... am I wrong for feeling a little disrespected?

CHARITY SON Spring 2013
Girl you already know I didn't! Lol but I'm hoping it'll turn out for the best. Should be a lighter semester since I'm taking pharm 2 and SP this summer. Is anyone else doing their clinicals at west jeff??

Charity SON Fall 2013
Regarding the question about parking at LSU.... The parking spots that are to be auctioned are at CSN. To be honest, I never even heard of a sign-up last semester for the "auction". There is a separate garage owned by LSU with a covered walkway to Charity. You'll have to call LSU to see when you can purchase one of these spots but I would do it ASAP as the spots go fast. This semester they were $125 but was absolutely worth it, especially being that my clincals were at University (I've parked in the garage every day T-F!) and just for the general peace of mind. Congrats to you all on your upcoming semester!

Charity/LSBN background checks + old misdemeanor
Have you spoken with anyone at Charity personally? If I were you, I would try making an appointment with the person in charge of submitting the paperwork to the LSBN (Can't provide you with a name because they do not allow us to do that on this site) and tell them of your history and concerns. Don't email, GO to Charity... they are much more helpful that way. They should be able to point you in the right direction. From what I understand, they deal with situations such as this with every semester.

CHARITY SON Spring 2013
I agree @marchmadness! The way people talk made it sound like we were about to be thrown the the wolves... nothing could be farther from the truth! I mean obviously they aren't going to spoon feed us through nursing school, but I felt like the staff and students who were there were genuinely interested in helping us learn and succeed throughout our time @ Charity. I'm excited to finally start!!

Orientation was overwhelming but so exciting! It was really great getting to meet everyone in the clinical group I'm in. Thanks for the info Mie! Did you buy the clicker? If so, do you remember how much it cost? I got my LSU parking pass today too!! So excited not to have to worry about parking anymore

CHARITY SON Spring 2013
I'm torn. There are pros and cons for both! I plan on waiting to see if I can find out more info about it next week at orientation. BTW, this may be a silly question but do you guys know if we need to bring anything with us to orientation?? I was just thinking of bringing a notebook to keep handouts/notes in.
