Hi CFG77! I have no idea, I was really surprised when I went on the cno website after reading this thread. I talked about this with one of my classmates and we're planning to ask the program coordinator on monday if he/she is on campus or email them. I'll let you know on Monday.

George Brown PN Sept. 2014
Hi there! congratulations for getting accepted! you will also need a stethoscope and white comfortable shoes. I remember in first semester last fall, we were given given a coupon redeemable only when you buy a nursing kit which had a stethoscope including safety glasses, scissors, and other items. I didnt use those other items but stethoscope was important. The kit which had scissors, safety glasses & other stuff can't remember:) including the stethoscope, a pair of uniform & a lab coat I paid around $ 250.00 In first semester I only used the stethoscope, uniform and of course the white shoes from GBC. In 2nd semester i used everything that I used in 1st sem plus the lab coat came in handy for the health assessment course.

George Brown PN Sept. 2014
Hi there, Hope your 3rd semester went well and that you're ready for fourth & last semester:up: I just finished 2nd, I'll be going to 3rd semester this fall. How was your experience in 3rd sem? Was the course load for 3rd sem heavy than 2nd? what courses were difficult? did you guys had sections A & B in the 3rd sem? How is the timetable schedule in 3rd semester, is it same as it was in 2nd semester (3days classes & 2 days clinicals)? and lastly what kind of clinical placements do semester 3 students get? I apologize for so many questions and thank-you in advance. A

George Brown College RPN Sept. 2013
Thanks a lot for the advice. Congratulations too for going in to your 2nd semester. I am definitely going to attend the orientation this month, I already attended the orientation for pre-placement and almost done completing my health forms, though they didn't give us any book list. I went on GBC web for course outlines for 1st sem so some of the books I already have. Only thing i'm worried in 1st semester is the math1135 course the pass mark is 80% Thats pretty a lot and according to the course outline you're not allowed to use calculator. How hard is the math? i'm kinda worried about that. I also heard that 1st semester student after orientation and passing the skills test will go for clinical placement. If you dont mind me asking, how was your 1st clinical experience? I'm hoping to get exempted from some of the courses so my 1st semester course load will be a little less and I believe I can handle the 1st sem. Thanks again for the advice.

Pre-Health George Brown
Hi CFG77, You're welcome, Yes let me know how it goes. I hope i didn't confuse you that much with registration. They might not have 10 blocks, it depends how much student they're taking, If i remember well i think last year when I started PHS in January i think there was 5-6 blocks. Just log in a head of time before PHS registration window is open and try to stay active that way stuview doesn't log you out Thanks, I wish you both all the best with registering. I'm going to log in at least 20 mins before the registration window is open. I'm not sure if you have checked this link out it has the time for registration for the programs. Registration Priority Group Control

Pre-Health George Brown
You're welcome. yes the block/section its basically the timetable, when your registration window is open on July 22nd you will see different blocks may be up to 10 with the courses for that semester plus each block has different times but courses are same. For example lets say you're supposed to take 6 courses for semester 1, block #1 will have those 6 courses with a class time schedule for those courses and therefore that will be section 1, block #2 same courses but different class time schedule and so on up to block #10, just same courses but different times. I think the reason why they put few blocks for students there to choose its because they all have different times so one can choose what works for them. Therefore for you and your gf to be in the same section you guys will have to choose the same block and you will have same class schedules

Pre-Health George Brown
Hi CFG77, Its not hard to do, Just check the date and time, I believe registration will be on July 22nd for PHS and RPN, only time differ. From my experience I used to log in on stuview before the actual time of registration and i'll make sure i stay active that way it stuview doesn't log me out until the time the window of registration is open (for example for me for the rpn it opens july 22nd at 1500/3pm). so for you I will suggest both of you to log in at the same time on july 22nd before the actual time of registration for PHS and just choose the section that will work for both of you, if you guys will be at the same place during registration the better, because there will be multiple blocks/section to choose. Hope that helps.

Pre-Health George Brown
For the biology course in 1st sem, I bought the code from the actual website mcgraw-hill.com, actually after the classes has started the professor will send a link to the whole class via email that you can go direct and register if you've bought the book which comes with the code or you can just purchase the code on that website and then register in to the course. I think you guys might use the same book, the only issue I had later after purchasing the code for that bio book was printing every week the chapters & i was told that we will be using the same book for anatomy & physiology in 2nd sem so thought it would have been worth it to buy the book if I knew I was going to use it for the 2nd sem. For the chem book I bought from the GBC bookstore the actual book (comes with the code) because we used it in the 2nd sem too. Yes you will get in to RPN if your program GPA at the end is above 3.5 plus if the competition is not very high, I completed the pre-health in august/12 and I tried to get in for Jan 2013 and my GPA was 3.5 but they didn't give me an offer because they said the competition was very high. So I got in Centennial for RPN Jan/2013 and then in May GBC contacted me that they now have a seat for me for Sep/13. So now am thinking of transferring to GBC. Basically you just have to aim for a very high gpa

Pre-Health George Brown
Hi! I completed pre-health last year august at GBC, I believe the only books you will need to buy for 1st semester are "inquiry to life 13th ed" for biology and one for chemistry course (can't remember the name of the book) plus you will still use these books in 2nd semester for principles in anatomy and physiology and chemistry for health science respectively. Both books have access codes for online assignments, therefore if they haven't changed the courses and assignments I think both of you might need to have one for each or you can just buy one book for each courses and then buy just an access code for one person for the online assignments then share the books. 2nd semester I think the only book you going to buy is for physics. Personally for the biology in 1st sem i bought the code which came with the etext its a little cheaper than buying the actual book but then i ended up spending money when i printed the chapters plus the code was only valid for one year. The chemistry I bought the actual book. Good luck with the program and getting in RPN

Work load for the flex at centennial is fair and less course load. I like the arrangement for the flex RPN program, I'm doing very good I had over 3.5 gpa in sem 1A and that just motivated me to work hard for this sem 1 B only problem is the distance. I've thought about it a lot and it came down to the distance plus lighter course load and manageable or close to school heavy course load and I don't know how I will manage it. I think I will stay at centennial. May be inthe future after graduation plus work experience I can apply for the bridging in GBC
